The Good Clam

Once again nature had given us a beautiful day to enjoy. A big yellow gold sun

a cloudless sky and a gentle breeze, sometimes called a zephyr.

My sister and I just had to have a swim to cool off, but we had no swimming

pool. You know what that meant; that meant we had to go to the beach, and of

course, we hate the beach – no no, just kidding, we love the beach!

It has beautiful sand and shells to collect to talk about and tell the kids at school

at show-and-tell. But most of all, it had water—lots and lots of lovely, cool water

to swim in. We had hats and sun protection, and if we needed, a large colourful

beach umbrella, and some shirts for later.

We kids simply loved the beach, and knew that someday we would learn

to ride surfboards and we would need to be good, strong swimmers.

If we got good enough, we might even represent our country in the Olympics.

Perhaps we would learn how to use diving equipment so that we could

explore shipwrecks and coral reefs and underwater caves. That would be

awesome!

But wouldn’t it be great to rescue people, like those who saved the

Wild Boars soccer team in Thailand in 2019. The teamwork and

feats of heroism necessary in that rescue showed wonderful

cooperation between everyone involved, even those from

other countries and mind you, those rescuers did not think of

themselves as heroes; they were just doing what they thought

was the right thing – no payment required.
