"The Penny Day Outing” offers a standing invitation to the Child. The Child will be invited to collect and count coins. This is a opportunity for teaching through entertainment on numerous levels. The function of money, the benefit of savings, and the hunt for items that are affordable yet adorable, are just a few that the author is excited to share.
The simple words take on new meaning as the illustrations pair perfectly with their presentation. The story is about a journey to a store or aisle where one-hundred pennies can buy a myriad of items. The practicality of these stores and items is embraced by the author and hopes that it leads to adventures for the Child.
Children are naturally drawn to stories of journey and adventure. This is a practical approach to both. The ability to pair a subject like math into Children's literature is important to the author. This is a launchpad for math and money applications, while exploring a wish list of treats and treasures.
It is in Early Childhood that futures are being constructed. "The Penny Day Outing" is a tool in a Caregiver's toolbox to assist with that healthy formation. The idea that discussions about math, money, and savings can be fun and delightful is a theme the author embraces.
