Description

The mad gnome Gagle has escaped from his prison cell in Germania with the intention of destroying the Leprechauns of Ire. When he finds he cannot enter the Land of Ire as a Spell of Lok has been placed around the island. He decides to kidnap the humans to bring the leprechauns to him. But he can only manage to steal away Megan taking her to his mysterious island, which he escaped to while being chased by the Queen’s men. There he conspires with friends drawn to him by magic to become the King of Germania. What he doesn’t plan on is that Megan will escape. She runs alone, hungry, and scared for her life until she meets a Black-Robed Wizard named Malachi. The island she has been taken to is known in Irish Folklore as Mysterious Island. Known for centuries as Irelands Atlantis. Sailors throughout history state that this island only appears every seven years. Can Megan ever find her way back to her family and New Jersey? Before the gathering of gnomes find her. Or before the island disappears once again? Follow the adventures of Harold and Megan in this thriller, where she meets The High Brasal of all magic. Whom Irish legend speaks of as the guardian of the world’s magic. Can her family again seek the aid of the Leprechauns and the queen’s Gnomes? If so, will they find her in time? Come meet Harold and Megan in their second adventure, where magic and life come together and Irish history shines bright.

DEDICATION
To my wife, who has now joined in the fray looking for Megan, good luck with that, dear. To our grandchildren who love to read.
To the new fans who find Harold and Megan each day, and I cannot forget those in Ireland who find this work enjoyable, thanks for the letters and compliments. I hope time allows me to write more about your land and its mythical history. What? You don’t believe in Fairy?
I would carefully watch out when around a certain bridge in Limerick, a mountain in Mayo, and around a certain river that flows in Ballyhooly, as you’ll never know if the eyes of the wee people may take to following you.

FOREWORD
IT WAS THE START OF a great adventure. One to last a lifetime for Milo O’Flynn. But one that had quickly become a distant memory. Only held together by fragments of times remembered. For the O’Flynn family of Tuar Na Fola, County Limerick, Ireland.
As life all around the cottage slowly moved on. All were unaware that a mad Gnome had stolen the missing Milo.

Harold, Megan, Mom, and Dad have returned home to New Jersey. The O’Flynn family was finally settling in from their exciting Ireland adventure.
It was a family adventure that got its start with Harold’s dad.
See, one day he simply vanished. He had gone missing, and that day well it lasted almost one full year! In the beginning everyone thought that Sean O’Flynn, their dad, had abandoned his family. That was until late one night when Harold received a "special" visitation. It was from a ghost! Yes, a ghost. One who came from out of his family’s past. From the very night of that first visit, unknowingly a family adventure had begun. For Harold, his sister Megan and their mom.
Well unbeknownst to them it had its beginnings a very, very long time ago.
It was at a time when most young men of Ireland left their beloved homes. In search of treasures and adventures on the high open seas. All except for the one young man in this story. The one who decided his future would be best served by working the potato plot his pa worked daily. That young man’s name was Milo, Milo O’Flynn, to be exact.
Well, on his way to returning home Milo needed to take refuge. Shelter from a mighty storm that was soaking him by the minute. One that pounded the very earth he stood on. So, he desperately needed to seek out some comfort. Staring long and hard into the darkening day. That’s when he spotted the old wide bridge right out in front of him. Milo ran to take cover under the only source he had to keep him a little dryer than wetter. By seeking protection under that bridge, well, it was then that his troubles would begin.
While crouching there waiting for the storm to pass. Milo noticed a little wooden box slowly floating down the river. It turned around and around, almost like it was dancing to the current it would seem. That is when it suddenly spun into Milo’s way, stopping at his feet. As if to say to Milo, "pick me up."
But what he found floating that day was just no ordinary little wooden box. No sir. It just happens to be the "Magical Box." It was the missing magical box. The one that belonged to Fairy. Whose owners were no other than the Leprechauns of Ire themselves! Leprechauns who had been searching for that box for hundreds of years! However, all of this was unknown to Milo of course. You see, once he returned home, well, he would eventually misplace it in his family’s home. Where it would stay lost and forgotten for a hundred years. Left buried deep inside an old wall. That was until his great, great-grandson Sean O’Flynn, found it. Well, as luck would have it he just so happened to be Harold and Megan’s dad.
Even if it was by accident, Sean had found the box.
See, it happened when Sean’s younger brother Ian dared him to reach behind a dark and old musty wall on a lark. Beyond the wall, it was dark and scary. Though it was only merely half a wall. Unknown to both, there beyond their eyes was also another half wall. One buried in the back of that one. As if it were hiding in their dark cellar.
Sean would later say about that wall, "that was done over good by the webs of many a spider. All of who must have lived and died in that ole wall o’er centuries"
See, when Sean reached behind that old wall, he let out a horrible scream. Upon hearing that awful scream, his little brother Ian ran away. Scared for his own safety and to fetch their father. Because something must have taken off his brother Sean’s arm that day. Of that, he was certain by the cry that came out of his brother’s mouth.
Sean was but teasing his brother from the dare, although he had felt something behind that old wall. It felt square all right, no doubt about that, and maybe wooden. So, with a little tug, he discovered in his hands a box. One with no lid or any way to open it. But unknown to him, this particular box was not just any ordinary box.
Sean found the lost "Magical Wooden Box of Fairy."
After all the years that had passed since he had found it, the box now rested quietly on a shelf in Sean’s bedroom. That was until Sean went off to college in America. When on that day, the box left the Land of Ire. No one, not even Sean, was ever to detect any magic about that box. Not by him or its first possessor. Many a Great, Great Grandfather ago, Milo O’Flynn.

T’was the missing "Magical Box of Fairy." "The Box that was not a Box."
A millennium ago, it was created by their Queen. When a Queen ruled the Land of Ire. Cherished by all Leprechauns living in the Land. This is why the box was very special, as it aided all Leprechauns in making magic. Especially in the brewing of their glorious lager.
Until one midsummer’s eve, it was stolen!
Right out from under the noses of many happily sleeping Leprechauns. It was said that all who may have noticed the culprit couldn’t remember what they had seen. Even though some could remember the same, the thief that night was perhaps a Golden Fox. A Golden Fox that went quietly running out into the dark of night. Whose furry coat seemed to sparkle from the campfire lights, its coat shimmering as it ran.
So, for several hundred years, the search for a Golden Fox was tasked to the former Leprechaun Mayor. He was the one who had lost the box on that ill-fated night, Mayor Bradle. It was he who had fallen fast asleep that very night under the stars. He was so satisfied over the truth of it that he spoke aloud on the next day, saying.
"T’was the brew I made, ya might av known. It had been me best yet, in many a year. I couldn’t help meself, it was precious nectar from the gods themselves. So, I partaken to it like a bee to a flower."
Although unknown to anyone, it was not a Golden Fox. It was one in disguise. As that fox was no other than a guest. It was a Germania Gnome named Gagle the Great.
Many years earlier, he showed up seeking out the Leprechauns themselves when he spun a false tale to his hosts. Saying his Queen had asked him to make a pilgrimage to the Land of Ire. To seek out those who dealt in magic. But if truth be known. He, Gagle, was a mad gnome. One who was banished from Germania. For thievery was in his blood. Stealing from others of his kind and the Queen herself.
But now the Box had been stolen from him! As Gagle the Great cried out for revenge. Saying to the world aloud that he would pursue the thief to the end of time. When he found t
