Acknowledgment
I want to acknowledge my mother, Eunice Adetutu Akomolafe, for telling me a story, which gave me the inspiration to write this book based on her childhood experience. I am grateful to Linda Moore, the executive director of Elsie Whitlow Stokes Public Charter School, Washington DC, for the opportunity to become the first professional library and media specialist of the school. This job experience gave me the insight into the fundamentality of reading as a core in making a child a lifelong learner; it also gave me the opportunity to identify the reading needs and gaps to be filled in the education of children.
I want to appreciate Dr. Remi Tokunbo Okwechime for her insight and contributions toward the successful completion of the manuscript. I thank Tony Okwechime, Peter Ozodo, and everyone that read through the manuscript for their critical comments. I thank Chief Isaac Akomolafe, Funbi Ajuwon, Akin Ajuwon, Dr. Remi Fatuyi, Yewande Fatuyi, Shola Fatuyi, Segun Ogunkola, and Bimpe Anthony-Wise for supporting me, believing in me, and cheering me on to complete this book.
