Where Was He Born?






A li was born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., in Louisville, Kentucky on January 17, 1942. Cassius Clay, Sr. was a sign painter and Odessa, his mother, was a maid. He had a younger brother named Rudy. While they were not rich, they were not poor.







A s he was growing up, states in the south like Kentucky were segregated by race. What this means is that facilities such as restrooms, swimming pools, restaurants, and schools had separate facilities for black people and white people. Laws referred to as Jim Crow Laws enforced this segregation which made life difficult for Cassius and other African Americans.
