THE THREE PERFECTIONS









B eginning with the Song Dynasty, which ruled Ancient China from 960 AD to 1279 AD, a new category of art emerged. It was called the three perfections and was composed of:
Calligraphy, handwritten lettering in black ink
Poetry, rhythmic stories that rhymed
Painting, generally in black ink
