In
this book, we’re going to talk about useful, tame animals. So, let’s get right to it!
6
Many thousands of years ago, men began to tame wild animals. This process is called domestication.
These animals were used for food. They were also used to help men work and to transport things from place to place.
6
7
Hides from some animals were used for clothing. Some animals were good for protection and companionship too.
7
8
Without these animals, humans would have continued to survive by hunting and gathering. This meant that men, women, and children would have to move from place to place to find food.
8
9
Since they were able to tame animals, it made it possible for them to stay in one place and start farms and cities.
