Introduction
Whales, just like humans, are mammals. They do not lay eggs. Their babies grow inside them. Mother whales nurse their young until they are old or big enough to become independent.

Figure 1: Whales come in various shapes and sizes.
1.Another shared characteristic between whales and humans is that these sea creatures need air as much as we do. They cannot breathe underwater. They come to the surface for air.
2.Whales use their blowholes to breathe. Blow holes are located at the top of their heads.
3.Baby whales are called calves. Adult female whales are referred to as cows and adult male whales are called bulls.
4.There are various species of whales. But they are basically categorized into two groups based on the way they feed. These two groups are called baleen whales and toothed whales.
