The Enchanted Rib
The story is reflected in verse, as a reminder of the centuries of chaos, love, betrayal, myths and mystics who on the surface know very little, but the High Priestess. Who would know?
My poem to you both, as so written in my time, the High Priestess’s wish to Lavinia now fulfilled…
‘Her Heart Her Time!’
Lavinia in time, Beauty sublime
Trapped by sorcerers a century in time,
Her fragile existence always on the line.
Her life, her heart, in her own wicker crib,
In a hidden bone an enchanted rib.
Lavinia without substance forbidden to roam,
Alone in the dark shadows for centuries her home.
His lost soul waiting to meet,
Her lost heart waiting to beat,
To both walk again the city street?
No heart was right until tonight.
The enchantment has gone,
She is into the light,
Now she can breathe, she glows so bright
She has found his lost soul and made it right.
Now she has Life she will be forever his wife.!!
So it was written all in her time,
Forever in light, again he is mine.
‘In Her Time’
Over a rainbow in glorious colour,
Her shimmering body like no other.
Her hands sweeping through the air,
She swept around me without a care.
As she passed close by
A gleam of love in her eye.
Her look, her smile, it was easy to see,
I knew that look she winked at me.
Her long hair shining, all a flow,
As the setting sun, all a glow,
Only a moment in her time,
Her look showed all, she was still mine.
She slowly moved to match my pace,
Her hand reached out touched my face.
I felt her heart reach out for mine,
To capture, to hold, for all time.
Chapter 1
At the Artefacts Convention
I met Jane on a visit to an international artefacts convention and exhibition. We were both browsing over the same objects and literature; after a few words, and an apology from me wanting to purchase the same item, we progressed and expanded our conversation to costs and collectable items.
I introduced myself, ‘James Sanford, how do you do?’
‘Pleased to meet you, James, I’m Jane Aston. Well James, now we are informally introduced, we can be a little less formal as we move round the displays.’
We talked incessantly about pieces we had seen, liked, would like to own. We both met and introduced to each other people we knew, all talking about the displays and their owners, their personal collections. And the last collectors’ meeting at Jane’s house.
It was starting to become quite hectic as it approached midday as more people arrived during their lunch break; time had quickly got away from us, as it does when you’re enjoying the moment.
‘Jane, would you like to sit for a while and discuss our purchases over coffee?’
‘Oh yes, what a good idea James. The eateries are too busy on this floor, let’s go to the second-floor restaurant; it will be a little quieter as it’s more expensive, and there is such a good view across the river.’
‘Good idea coming up here, Jane, it has a very relaxing atmosphere, and as you said, a superb view over the river.’
‘Glad you like it, James. Now we have time to regain our thoughts and the reasons for being here, apart from the good coffee.’
‘So Jane, do you collect for profit or for a home collection and personal display, such as the piece you have just purchased?’
‘Yes to the latter. I like to display my new pieces and discuss them with a local collectors’ group; we also have a monthly newsletter.
