When they entered the Church she saw the Marquis standing at the lectern turning over the pages of the large Bible. Neisa felt an uncontrollable and unusual excitement rising within her, quickening her pulse and flushing her cheeks. The Marquis looked so handsome and, from his proud demeanour, she realised that reading the lesson was important to him.
