About the Author
Sunil Gera is an Indian writer; his novels are romantic thrillers with a dash of crime.
‘Love and Honour’ is his latest, after ‘Stars in Your Eyes’ and ‘Make Me Your Friend’.
All his novels are edge-of-the-seat thrillers with one common thread—his protagonists are ordinary people who are strongly motivated by the glamour of fame and fortune. Such desires often trigger them to choose their own rules of success, independent of the conventional throes of the Indian Moral Brigade.
He promises his readers a thrill-sational experience in this journey of finding love and living their dreams, which inspires them to love boldly, live passionately and dream sensationally.
Sunil Gera academically is an Engineer from Delhi University. In his college days, his favourite subject was ‘Humanities’ and he loved poems like ‘Ulysses’ by Alfred Lord Tennyson and ‘The Prisoner of Chillon’ by Lord Byron. He spent part of his free time in reading novelists like Charles Dickens, Margaret Mitchell, Somerset Maugham, Daphne du Maurier and Alberto Moravia. He was so inspired by the plots, the style and the characters of the novels that he believed that those who did not read literature missed out a great part in their lives.
Sunil Gera writes with the objective to enthral his readers; he believes that everyone’s life is a blessing and it should be lived with purpose.

Chapter I
1
Larissa looked vulnerable when she confided in him. She had green eyes, a firm body and figure like an hourglass. Two top buttons of her white kurta were missing.
Kapil was a doctor and had checked in the hotel after a private medical call. His patient’s condition had improved yet he had stayed on for two extra days.
Kapil was tall, robust, fair complexioned with bright eyes. He wore a light colour shirt with blue jeans, a dark blue jacket and black skids. He wore an aura of a carefree man, who believed in enjoying life.
Only once, he had seen her before, as their rooms faced one another. With curtains drawn, he could have a clear view of her room. After the patient’s visit, he had plenty of time and he lay on the bed with a pillow cushioned to his back. He switched channels to watch something interesting on the show. Instantly, his glance fell to the opposite room which caught his attention. An authoritative looking middle-aged man had raised his hand in a gesture to slap a young, delicate looking woman. The sheer sight of a woman being ill treated was too disgusting to him.
The next moment the man stopped and lowered his hand without hitting her, but his gesture had shown his domination. Kapil tried to guess the relationship between the middle-aged man and the sexy woman. He had cold eyes, a broad face and a sallow complexion. He sported a moustache and had a thin receding hairline. He looked a business executive in his early 40s. He couldn’t be her dad , Kapil thought yet despite his best efforts, he couldn’t figure out their connection. While the act was on the sexy woman also noticed Kapil, she looked embarrassed due to her being humbled by the man. Kapil was aghast but he couldn’t do anything. Out of disgust he switched off the TV and left the room to go for fresh air and to let out his tension after seeing what had transpired in the opposite room, he thought it was their private business and he had no right to meddle.
Around 12 the next day when he was about to leave his room, to go for lunch the room bell chimed. He was surprised to see that she stood outside with a worried expression. She spoke hesitatingly, “I am Larissa, I stay in the opposite suite and I need your help.” She waited for his response. She had thick, black, long hair; she wore gold studs with diamonds and a thin gold chain on her neck.
“Of course, please come in.” He gestured her to enter, in his heart, he thanked his stars for his good luck.
She walked inside and sat on the sofa while he drew the window curtains and shut the door for privacy. He posed like a gentleman offering help to a lady in distress.
“I am Kapil, a doctor.”
She acknowledged by nodding and then apologised, “I had no right to barge in.”
“It is alright,” he waved his hand reassuringly.
Larissa felt emboldened and spoke without mincing words, “I am sharing my suite with my husband Peter, he is a brute.”
Kapil was alright by the word brute for the authoritative man, yet he being her husband did shock him. He was unable to associate them as a married couple because besides their different natures, they had a big age gap.
Larissa understood his dilemma and told about herself, “I am from Mumbai, Peter and my dad got into partnership in a stock broking firm in share market. In the last Bull Run, their firm rode the peak. My dad brought wads of notes every day in that period, which changed our lifestyle and we moved into an upmarket apartment at Band Strand and we also bought a limousine. Sadly, our good fortune lasted for a brief period as our apartment got raided by income tax sleuths. The inspectors recovered unaccounted wealth from the locker and arrested my dad and attached our assets. Next day when I saw my dad at the lockup, he looked defeated. He confessed to me, their firm had been getting inside tips from a business house which helped them to grow rich. Somebody had spilt the beans and being the senior partner he got arrested, whereas his junior partner, Peter could prove his innocence and went scot-free. He told me that only Peter could bail him out due to his connections, but on the condition that I would marry him. My dad opened his heart out just because he was scared and depressed, but I swear he didn’t press me to marry Peter. I loved my dad, I wanted him to be free and therefore Peter and I got married. My dad got bailed out, yet he couldn’t get the apartment and the limousine back from the court. He saw me suffer after marriage because Peter would often ill-treat me. My dad was repentant because I had agreed to marry Peter for his freedom. He could not recover from the setbacks of his failed financial position and his loving daughter being unhappy. In a few months, he suffered a stroke and passed away. Our marriage was also on the rocks as Peter’s behaviour turned from bad to worse.”
Kapil could understand her bad luck, yet he could not guess the way he could be of help.
“In what way can I be of help?”
Larissa, instead of replying, shifted close to Kapil and held his hand. She looked in control of the situation, no longer a weakling. She smiled seductively and tightened her hold.
He was surprised by the change, yet he could not resist the temptation and therefore, he embraced her and soon she snuggled into his arms. After a tight lip lock and the embrace, she got up and pulled him towards the bed.
He was puzzled but his senses were subdued due to his heightened desire. He had been a rational man only so far as getting an academic degree or running his medical practice were concerned. In the matters of his carnal desires, he was a nutcase, he disrobed her and let go of his passions.
He didn’t know that for how long did they sleep. He was awakened when she nudged him gently on to his ribs. When he opened his eyes, he found her all ready and dressed up smiling from ear to ear, with the sexy look. She excused herself, “I will go as Peter would be returning in about an hour.”
He held her hand and then dutifully repeated, “OK, but you haven’t told me yet that in what way I could be of help.”
She smilingly lowered her head, gave him a deep kiss and then walked out.
He was still intoxicated by the lovemaking, he was sure that she wanted him as much as he did, as was evident by her looks. He had not asked Larissa her address or her cell number because he was sure that she would come again. He found himself under her total grip; his rational thinking had been subdued by his desires.
The only thought which remained in his conscious was, When will she be back?
He had estimated that she would return in about three to four hours, therefore he changed into a polo shirt, flannel trousers, suede shoes and walked to the hotel bar.
It was six in the evening yet it was too early for the bar, only two tables were occupied and the stereo music was on, the place was dimly lit by the light filtering through the heavy curtains.
The steward welcomed him and handed him the menu card. It was happy hour at the bar, which meant that with e
