Six Years for Stephen
(Murdered on 22nd April 1993)
On this important anniversary date
When justice has come far too late
For a black youth by the name of Stephen
The sanctity of his life was most uneven .
An innocent life from God was thrown back
Just because this youth was black
Just who the hell are others to judge
By saying whose life they so begrudge?
Police at the time just did not care
This within our communities is not fair
Take comfort in the fact that we all know
Stephen’s death created a reason to show
His purpose was such and he did indeed
Show the failure of power corrupt with greed
Since when does man now have the right
To say who shall live – whether black or white?
We all who are part of the human race
Should hang their heads down in sheer disgrace
For allowing this to happen as a general rule
Bringing sadness and despair to a family so cruel
We do not have the right to tell others
How to treat strangers as equal brothers
When we are only sheer hypocrites
Saying one thing; do another – that fits
How as a nation can we say we’ll fight
For British justice that is always right?
The damage is done Stephen was taken away
His life cut short for him never to stay
His death should teach us never to forget
This murder was allowed with nothing done yet
This vicious attack six years ago occurred
Legal decisions as usual are deferred
If we do believe in justice and law
And each having rights on every score
What of the rights of the family remaining?
Those of the Lawrences must now be sustaining
Time Rolls On
A well known lady by the name of Mave
Was once known to be a local rave
When she grew up with nice long locks
She spent much time on the London docks
She liked to use her time with men
Who would entertain her now and then
She wasn’t particular which way it went
As long as on her money was spent
She liked to have a tankard of ale
With good-looking men who wouldn’t fail
Then take them home for the usual thing
As long as they agreed some to money bring
Well Mavis was thrown around here and there
Found in funny positions everywhere
Tossed and turned in every direction
A lady of the streets to utmost perfection
There wasn’t much one could now teach her
She could have it in a way you would prefer
But life goes on as does reputation
And when prices go up it’s called inflation
Through the years have been many changes
Different people and different phases
