About the Author
The author of this book has gathered a collection of different themed poems that he feels will appeal to most poetry lovers. Author Steven is a quiet gentleman by nature with old-fashioned values and believes that his fellow humans are friends he hasn’t made acquaintance of at present. While he was recovering from Transient Ischemic Attack (a mini-stroke) and being off work for fifteen months, he decided to write this book and discovered a real passion for writing poetry in which he sees himself as a poetic painter in the sense that he can paint beautiful images in the reader’s mind.
Not only does he have an enthusiastic passion to conquer every challenge that life sends his way, but a strong belief that with unshakeable faith and purposeful determination, everyone can achieve their goals in life.
With the following quote from the back of this book, he thinks it is very important to believe in oneself.
BELIEF IS THE ENGINE TO OUR SOUL, IT CAN DRIVE US ON TO GREAT ADVENTURES IN LIFE.
He has an overwhelming thirst to gain new experiences from life and from our fellow humans so that different point of views can be exchanged.
I have written my collection of poems with a novel twist to poetry that the reader may feel brings a new way of looking at different aspects in everyday life.

Acknowledgement
None of this would have been possible without the work put in by my brother, Michael, and my dear sister-in-law, Deborah.
With their encouragement and boundless faith in me, they gave me the chance to fulfil my long-awaited dream of getting my work published. I would take this opportunity to thank my elder brother for always being there for me whenever I needed him. He not only named me but has been my mentor and inspiration and most importantly my best friend throughout. And lastly, I want to thank the publishers of this book, Austin Macauley Publishers, for sharing my work with the general public.
Our Need to Fight
Why do we feel the need to fight?
To commit to it with all our might
Written in the history pages of centuries past
Never finding a reason to make peace that can last.
Why in God’s name we commit to the fight?
To give it all our strength of might
Measuring our victories by territory gained
Over lands that are always bloodstained.
Why do we have to kill each other?
When God made every man a brother
We can make this world a safer place
If we make it our mission to save our race.
Mankind is God’s greatest creation
In His eyes we are one nation
Why cannot every person see?
Peace in the world is better for you and me.
Standing together, now is the time
To make our effort to fight this unholy crime
And to settle our differences with talk
To make this world a safer place to walk.
To bring to our children a future without war
Forgetting the need we have to even the score
A peaceful world can clearly be in sight
If we abandon OUR NEED TO FIGHT.
Death of Hate
It is always sad to say goodbye
With our strong feeling we need to cry
Now our loved ones have sadly gone
To live our life without them from now on.
They have always been a big part of our life
Their loss is a stab to our heart with a knife
Their passing brings us so much pain
Coping without them in life is a daily strain.
Remembering them in our heart
A loved family member they will always be a part
Feeling now in a sad mental state
This is not a time to celebrate.
Sadly, we suffer the loss of soldiers of our nation
Forever remembered will be their station
Throughout all our pages of history
Evidence of war is happening in every century.
Our heroes remembered that died in battle
What of the civilians slaughtered like cattle?
Forgotten casualties of the horrors of war
Maybe millions; no one gives evidence of the score.
Victims of a war filled with so much hate
For them there will be no debate
For they had no say or no choice
