Description

Was it self-proclaimed destiny or an unforetold prophecy?

Tony finds himself facing new urges and new problems like the paranormal beings he serves since his change. With trouble on the horizon, Lillith has ghosted, and he's left with Batlle Goddess Badbh for his training. When a ghost from the past appears, a former King will teach the new King how to be true to both his lineages. Meanwhile, no one knows when Cedric and the gang will emerge from the Otherworld.

Lillith will have to face what she fears most: true love. Desperate to prepare Tony to take Cedric's place, she sends him to seek out the Salamandra for a weapon worthy of slaying Gods and Titans. Meanwhile, she goes on her own quest to unfold more about her own dark secrets before it could unravel centuries of preparing for a civil war no mortal or immortal has ever seen.

Will Tony's training be enough to protect him, or will Lillith have to use her magic to protect her newfound love?

Readers and Lovers of Paranormal Romances with elements of shifters, vampires, demons, and mythology will find this refreshing with an interesting blend of known and unknown creatures for myths of Greek, Russian, Slavic, Caribbean, and South American origins!

Dedication
This is for the alpha readers, the beta readers, the proofreaders, and the amazing people in my life who didn’t let me give up and loved these characters as much as I do. Here’s to book five and the ones that wi ll follow!
Special thanks to Joel for dealing with my late nights of second guessi ng myself!
Preface
The mythology featured in this book takes us far from the Greek, Celtic, Slavic, and European influenced names and ideals that have been heavily stitched into books up until now. This story hints at Boto’s namesake, and that the world within the Cedric Series reaches far and wide, across not only realms, but many cultures and beliefs.
As you travel on this journey with our characters, you will find more creatures and deities of the island and swamp variety: from the dog who takes the souls over to the other side of Maori beliefs to Caribbean folktales of questionable saucy ladies to the frightening deities who claim the swamp a s theirs.
Much like my Russian, Polish, and Romanian-based readers who recognized many nuances, I want to place enough into this book that brings this same nostalgia to readers from the other side of the planet. There’s so much to unpack in this world, and I am nowhere near unfolding the layers that have been hinted at since book one.
Regardless, everything comes with a layer of my own imagination attached and is not meant to slander or take away from the original versions that inspired their conception. I invite you to research or even ask family if they know about the douen and ciguapa. Have they ever heard the story of Papa Boi chasing rude folks out of hi s swamp?!
Happ y reading,
Vale rie Willis

Chapter 1
A Natural
Tony
The ringer on Tony’s phone sent it vibrating across the nightstand. Angry, the phone danced and buzzed to get his attention. He cracked an eye. Just an alarm. Over a month had passed, but Lillith hadn’t been back since the night they… I can still taste her, feel her orgasm lingering from where I felt it at my core. Tony sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes with the palm of his hands. His body didn’t feel normal after that moment. Contractors had repaired the damage they’d done together to the bathroom: the vanity broken, and the mirror scattered into a million shards. In all his promiscuous years, he had never had sex so … volatile? Explosive? Meeting my match in prowess? The chemistry between us was easily something on another plane, but was that her power being a succubus?
Since Lillith hadn’t returned a call or text, he had occasionally visited the Lion’s Den to make sure it was still in working order. The bartenders he once thought were incompetent and bubbly were showing their real age and experience. At this rate, the place had been running without a manager to spearhead day-to-day operations for almost half the year.
Wonder if it’s because they’re afraid Cedric or Lillith will be pissed if they let the business go to shit while I deal with my curse? Granted, maybe they were bubbly around me for othe r reasons .
Regardless, both vampires seemed relieved to see he’d finally gained control over the incubine cravings. A pang of guilt struck a nerve at their reaction during his recent visits. That wild night in the bathroom had magically put the urges under lock and key, but he’d let every part of his humanity fade. Is it the fact I’m no longer human, or the idea there’s only one person I want? Flashes of Lillith arching as her thighs shook made him groan in frustration. These haunting hot flashes are killing me. Where the hell di d she go?
“Besides, my regulars weren’t human to begin with, so what does it matter that I’m a…” Tony covered his mouth, every muscle in his body tensing. King Incubus. What does that title even mean? Technically, it’s Cedric’s title, isn’t it? Or is it a creature type? Who the hell do I even ask to know wh ich it is?
Shaking off the thought, he finished buttoning his shirt and rolled the sleeves up. “Did my clothes get tighter, or did I get more muscle?” he scoffed, having to unbutton a few on the top to make more room. “Shit, maybe I gained weight moping around here in sweats f or weeks.”
Tony tugged at his clothes as he rode the elevator down. As he crossed the lobby, the desk attendant flagged him down. He had barely noticed the staff working in the high-rise luxury apartments, let alone glanced their way. In tandem, they hadn’t seemed to acknowledge him coming and going either. Slowing, he eyed the door, debating whether to pretend he hadn’t heard her sho ut at him.
Did they finally notice it’s just me living here now? Oof, this aura coming out of her. Comi ng in hot!
“Mister McCarthy!” The petite woman waved at him from behind the concierge desk, and thanks to his newfound abilities, he knew she found him extremely attractive . “I, uh, I have this for you.” She tucked hair behind her ear and batted her lashes at him. “How are you doing this even ing, sir?”
“Better.” She’s ready to rip my shirt off. His face reddened, feeling guilty as his power slipped just then, like ripples in a tub, the arousal bouncing between them for a moment. “R-right. Thanks. Got to go.” This thing I can do and feel now is going to get me in so much trouble. How awkward life’s going to be now that I know when and how sexually attracted people are to me and others in the room.
“Well,” she looked around the empty lobby before biting her lip. Her eyes dipped over him, and she finally whispered, “If you’re not busy and alone tonight, I would love to…”
Nope. “Dating Lillith,” Tony blurted, swallowing. “Have a nice d ay, lady.”
He grabbed the envelope from her and fled outside, the frigid air blowing snow between the buildings. What the fuck am I thinking! Dating Lillith? Is that even a thing? She’s going to choke me if that gets back to her! Ripping open the envelope, he found a handwritten note and business card. Flipping the card around, his jaw muscles twitched. It read, White Ram Law Associates, Nomius Panes Silvan, President, with an address reading, Room One on Avalon. Tony was still furious over the nonconsensual kiss from the God of Mischief. To think, of all the careers he could have chosen, of course he’d be a slimy lawyer. Changing his focus to the letter, he read it, coming to a stop on the sidewalk where his feet slid on an icy patch for a second.
Dea r Boy-Toy,
Lillith and I have discussed your current status after the deed was done. Needless to say, I’ve hired someone to prepare and teach you for what’s coming next. Hope you’re ready, big guy! You do realize as a King Incubus, you’re now in the top ranks of the demon caste system and will need to defend your throne. Congratulations on your worldly promotion! Sadly, you’re too young to have enough experience and our initial plan won’t work (casting a spell to fill your gaps). Indeed, a huge
