Part I
They Conquer…
Legend

“I ’mma blast every fuckin’ body up in this bitch, I put dat shit on everything,” Murk grumbled as he scowled at the older Black cop who was standing in front of the metal cage we were in, watching us with an evil ass grin on his face.
Standing up, Murk flicked him a bird and gritted on him, showing his mouth full of gold teeth.
“The fuck you lookin’ at, you field niggin’ ass muthafucka!” he snapped at the cop who, in return, grunted before turning to walk away. “That’s right. Get yo’ muhfuckin’ ass out of here before I blast you in yo’ shit.”
“With what gun, nigga? Just sitcho ass down somewhere and wait for Blitzstein to come get us,” Dame laughed coarsely, as he looked at Murk who had begun pacing back and forth in the cell.
“And what the hell is field niggin’?” I asked, slightly amused at the way Murk was going off, although I was starting to get a little agitated myself.
We’d been locked up a few times, but this was the first time that we didn’t get right back out in only a couple hours. I knew that Shanecia had called Blitzstein who was a beast as a lawyer, but he was taking a long ass time and it was starting to fuck with me a bit. We needed to get out this bitch because we had shit to do, things to handle, and people to see.
“I called him a field niggin’ ass muthafucka because his ass over here workin’ overtime for massa,” Murk grumbled as he finally took a seat. “Of all the fuckin’ things he can do and he wanna bring his black ass over here to watch us!”
“I’m just tryin’ to figure out what the hell is taking Blitzstein so long,” Dame said, as he stood up and walked to the front of the cell and peered out.
Lifting one brow, I watched him but I was more in tuned to what was going on in my mind than what he was doing. The fact that they’d arrested everyone but Quan told me that this was obviously something to do with the night that I’d killed Mello, and Quentin had taken care of the FBI chick. It was also clear that they had a decent amount of evidence on us to know that Quan hadn’t been there when that incident happened. But we’d been too careful to leave anything behind, so that had to mean that somebody snitched. But who?
“Quentin,” I said as soon as the question came to my mind.
“Huh?” Dame asked from beside me. “What about Quentin?”
I shook my head softly. This wasn’t the place to speak about those things. The whole reason they locked us up together and made us sit for hours was probably to make us speak, so we could talk our ass into giving up the evidence they needed. I wasn’t that damn stupid. They would have to come with something else.
When I looked up, I locked eyes with Murk and he gave me a subtle nod of the head. I knew right then that he had been thinking the same damn thing I was thinking: Quentin had to be the snitch.
“Last time I was locked up, they had some big ass bitch in the holding cell with me. They said it was a man, but I swear that nigga was a bitch. His name was Benji and she...he, hell, I'll say ‘shim’. ‘Shim’ kept scratching his junk and sniffing its fingers. Ever since then, I get anxiety and shit when I get behind bars,” Dame explained with a stressed expression on his face.
After eyeing his soft ass, I glanced over at Murk and we both burst out laughing.
“Nigga, that’s why you think you get anxiety from being locked up? Because of Becky-Benji?” Murk said in between chuckles.
“Y’all ain’t shit,” Dame replied, cutting his eyes at the both of us. “I was fucked up seeing that shit. They kept me in the cell for two hours, watching that bitch pace back and forth and sniff his fuckin’ stank ass fingers. I just knew he was gone try to touch me and I’d have to kill his ass…then I woulda caught me another case. I got post-traumatic stress disorder about that shit!”
“Dame, spell post-traumatic stress disorder,” Murk shot back, still laughing his ass off as Dame glared at him.
“Nigga, it’s spelled P-T-S-D…post-traumatic stress disorder,” Dame replied back, looking at Murk like he was the dumbest person on Earth. “You don’t know about that shit? It’s when something fucked up happens to you and—”
“Muhfucka, I know what the fuck it is. I’m sayin’ yo dumb ass don’t have that shit,” Murk responded while laughing at the look on Dame’s face.
“Y’all some fools,” I said, laughing at the two of them going back and forth.
Then we all stopped talking when we heard the sound of hurried feet approaching. Two plain-clothed agents walked by the cell, talking amongst themselves.
“Kayla said that some pregnant chick in a wedding dress is about to attack Cheryl, so we gotta walk out front and make sure her and her friend don’t do no stupid shit,” one of the agents said.
“I still got three minutes left on my damn break. Why the hell she ain’t call somebody else to—”
“Pregnant chick in a wedding dress?” Murk repeated as soon as they walked through the door to the other part of the building. “Aw, shit. That’s probably Li.”
“And she got Neesy out there with her. They raising hell, huh?” I said with a smile on my face, happy with that fact that Shanecia was here for me instead of somewhere ready to catch a flight back to Atlanta.
“Fuck…Li might get her ass locked up in this bitch. She don’t have a shred of gotdamn sense,” Murk grumbled as he sat down and shook his head.
“Well, that means you married the right one because neither do you,” Dame joked, and Murk punched him in his side.
Stuffing my hands in my pocket, I closed my eyes as a smile crossed my face. My baby was here and she was fighting to get me out this bitch.
Shanecia just might love a nigga for real.
Shanecia

“L isten, this how this shit is going to go. Wait…you listening? I need to make sure you really hear me...Cheryl,” Maliah added after checking the name plaque on top of the desk ahead of her.
I watched as Maliah leaned over the top and stared down at the butch looking white officer, who returned her glare without answering.
“You need to give me some muthafuckin’ answers! Y’all came and grabbed my new husband up hours after we got married and I need to know why!” she shouted at the woman.
“Ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to step back and to calm down—”
“You don’t need to ask me to do shit because I’m not doing shit until I get some gotdamn answers. Now why did you arrest them?”
Stepping up, I crossed my arms in front of my chest, acutely aware o
