First off this book was truly a labor of love. I had to go deep inside of myself to that place that originated with Life and Hope when innocence was shattered over a decade ago and this book was first written. During the process of writing this book I ran into several major hurdles. The biggest one was the main protagonist, Hope, was dead and Life was older. That was my dilemma. How do I give birth to something so precious without tampering its legacy and to not damage it or distort it?
I must have raked my brain for years on how do I wrote a part 2? Not because I wanted to but because the fans asked me to and as a writer I couldn’t resist the challenge because I love the fans and I wanted to please them. But still I was baffled as to how to write Life 2.
One day it just hit me and the literary God blessed me with a story and a theme. It was a damn good story. Life and Hope had a child and his name was Marcus. I decided I would use him to be the catalyst for this story and of course he had to have a love interest, a struggle and all the ingredients for a good urban drama; drugs, violates and murder. Then the real problem hit me as I started writing the book. Black Pearl, Nina Brown and even Life were jocking for longer roles, so there was a duel of sorts in my mind with just how long this book was going to be. It was never my intention to make a series. Let’s be honest, some of you hate series and, to be quite frank, my original intent was to get this book out to the masses and complete the story.
Well, unfortunately, that was not the case. One night Life even woke me from my sleep and told me that he wanted to bring his dude, Blazack back so I decided to do that and now you have a series. The next book will be the ending. Promise… that is if Life doesn’t have an issue with that, too.
First, I would like to thank God for making this possible and, secondly, my family which is too many to name. I also would like to think my staff at Sullivan Productions, LLC and all the authors signed to me. Our slogan is #WeAreFamily and we take that to heart. I want to give a special shout out to all the brothas and sistas trapped behind enemy lines. Keep your head up! To my mentor, Mutula Shakur, I look forward to you coming home and lastly to Vera; thanks for making me smile through my dark days.

Synopsis

History repeats itself in this sequel to the mega-hit novel written by Leo Sullivan, Life.
Marcus is a young man tossed into the same life of violence and poverty that his father tried to desperately to escape when a confrontation with the son of Life’s nemesis, Stevie D, turns tragic.
With Kayla by his side, Marcus is forced away from the life of adolescent innocence that he’d found comfort in and become a man. His love for Kayla makes them the perfect team, however, he soon finds that she has an addiction that could ruin them both.
When history repeats itself, Marcus finds himself walking in his father’s shoes, something he’d never considered. Will his fate turn out just as tragically as it did for his parents, many years before?

Chateau G.P
Life

Ten years later
I sat on the front porch reminiscing on the past as I sipped on Hennessey and Coke, and puffed a Black N’ Mild. I watched the little children frolic in the barren front yard, a place that once held fond memories of my extravagant lifestyle as one of the richest dope boys in the game back in the day.
The spacious front yard once possessed over two million dollars’ worth of expensive whips: two Rolls Royces, two Bentleys, a Porsche, a customized Maybach, and my ‘73 Caddy in mint condition, which happened to be the first whip I’d purchased. This day, the only car that sat there was the old Caddy from when I hit my first lick, back in the day when I was hustling and getting plenty of money with a female named Trina. Now-a-days, the Caddy was in need of a tune up, tires, and a paint job, and the convertible top leaked when it rained.
A lot of things had changed over the last decade or so after the death of Hope. For some reason, like a movie with no ending, I could never get her off my mind. She would always occupy a space in my heart, in my soul. But at least she had left me a piece of herself, our son, Marcus. He was a budding rebellious seventeen-year-old with raging hormones and the propensity to find trouble. He always stayed in some shit and he was about to turn eighteen shortly. I knew it would get even worse then. I had tried placing him in private schools, even giving him a tutor and an occasional swift kick in the ass. None of that seem to work. He had been arrested and sent to a juvenile detention center twice for fighting and currently the courts had him seeing a child psychologist.
The truth be told, they thought Marcus was crazy. Even I was starting to wonder after he pushed his chest up at me like he wanted to pop off when I caught him and his friends drinking and smoking in the house. A few days later, one off my most prized possessions, a gun I had infamously named Jesus when I was hustling and wreaking havoc on my enemies, was missing. Black Pearl said she couldn’t find it and Marcus said he didn’t have it.
But I had my suspicions.
Anyway, Marcus and I got along like oil and water. The only bright spot among us was Black Pearl; she raised him like he was her own. The two of them were inseparable. Throughout all the years, I had managed to keep my Kingpin past status out of Marcus’ life. He didn’t’ have a clue that I used to be the nigga that ruled the streets. Singlehandedly, I had made the funeral business very lucrative for morticians because I sent a lot of dudes to meet their maker ahead of schedule. Funeral homes got a lot of clients with the help of my nigga Blazack and our Miami crew.
Now Black Pearl was another issue. She was aware I was having serious financial problems and that was causing a rift between us. As a man, I felt like since I had stopped hustling the streets and was trying to do my corporate legit thing, I had failed miserably. She was losing respect for me as a man and that troubled me deeply.

Ever since the passing of Hope, her family and friends had merged with mine in a festive way and become one big family, sort of like in them Tyler Perry movies with the family reunions. Only with us, it was real and the Chateau Gangsta’s Paradise, which I had lovingly named my estate, was our meeting spot.
This month is no different , I thought as I watched my right hand man, Major, standing over the barbeque grill.
He was bobbing his head to the music, looking ridiculous, with a chef hat sideways and some type of apron with Mickey Mouse on it. He had just come home a year ago after doing nearly ten years on a case we had. I beat my case with the help of Hope. Major kept it gangsta, by refusing to snitch on me and pleading out. He was my nigga, a real stand up dude. There was no doubt he would give his life for me; loyalty was in his blood.
What kind of hurt was when he came home, I couldn’t bless him with some chips, a whip, or something. Truth was my dick was in the dirt. The transformation from dope boy extraordinaire to entrepreneur businessman wasn’t as easy as I thought. Even the successful business Trina had orchestrated to elude the Feds and launder money had started to crumble years ago. When the economy tanked, so did I. And I have to admit, I had made a lot of mistakes with bad investments as a hustler turned businessman.

Heavy bass music blared on the side of the yard. A rap song by Lil Wayne and Drake was playing and Major bounced his brawny shoulders to the beat while dancing with an adorable little four-year-old girl named Ebonee.
Just then, the front porch screen door opened and Nandi Shakur, Hope’s best friend, stood there chatting away with Black Pearl. She had a plate of food in one hand and a drink in the other
