Description

Fill My Cup is a series of poems designed to encourage, motivate and strengthen all of us during a time of darkness in the USA and around the world. There are poems about life, family, education, and inspiration for all of us.
The book also has poems that describe events that happened in my hometown and community. My hope is that this book touches the hearts and souls of those who read it.

Purpose
This is my second book of poetry. I began writing it during our shut-in time for Covid19. So much happened in the last few years, I wanted to update my collection. This book of poetry reflects events that have affected all of us in one way are another in the last few years.
Dedications
I dedicated this book to all who have encouraged me to write. First, I want to thank my husband Bennie and daughter Olivia for encouraging me to finish this project.
Fill My Cup is dedicated to those family members and educators who have and continue to encourage me to grow and be the best I can be.
This book is written in loving memory of my family members who held up my hands: Mom, Lee Irma Milton, Pops, Roy Milton, grandmom, Lucinda Jackson Pitre, and brother, Keith Anthony Coleman. I also salute to my aunt Audrey and uncle Garland, who helped to raise me and gave me wisdom along the way. I miss you all very much, and hope you are looking down from heaven and cheering me on.
I want to give honor to my former teachers, Helen Geron, my 1 st grade teacher, who help me though my learning disability; Ethel May Kimble, the English teacher who guided my writing style; High School Drama and Speech teacher Charlette Mouton; and High School English teacher, Dr. Rodney Johnson who taught me to appreciate drama, poetry and prose. Then there were Hazel Sias, Hazel Redd and Yvonne Norman, who served as mentors to me during my adult life. – These and so many other teachers helped me grow and develop into the person I am today.
I also want to shout out to my pastors and spiritual guides; Dr. Joshua Dara, who allowed me to teach and preach at Zion Hill Church in Alexandria, Dr. Larry Lloyd who gave the opportunity to teach and develop as a speaker in Lafayette and Dr. Johnny Montgomery, of Baton Rouge, who showed me the importance of walking in the fear of God.
