ONE WAY TICKET
Coming or Going
There are four parts to the UK
And the heads of state all want to play
Rules for him rules for her
The gears they are grinding not giving a purr
The English doing one thing the Scots another
Wales and Ireland god help us mother
Some rules are black some are white
When are we going to get things right.
Older generations are following advice
The younger ones throwing in the dice
Partying and grouping together
Won’t kill the virus and make things better
When will everyone start screwing the nut
Start following the advice instead of saying but
It’s easy to start doing as we are told
Then maybe we might all grow old.
COVID 19
Covid 19 is a giant pain in the Anus
Making us ill driving a wedge between us
North, South, East and West
All the Parties doing their best
All the rules and regulations won’t help us
It’s the mixing of bodies that’s spreading the virus
People are just not thinking the same
Local governments are getting the blame
Isolation doesn’t mean being alone
As long as you adhere to the 2 metre zone
Get out of the house into the fresh air
And walk out-side even as a pair
Doctors, nurses and businesses too
Are all under stress at this time BOO-HOO
So, let’s help the country it’s up to US
Let’s get back together and defeat the VIRUS
COVID XMAS
This xmas there is no cheer
only anticipation and fear
families no longer fill our home
now we sit here all alone
The box we live in is like a shell
Keeping us covered from this hell
Lateral testing before going to a shop
Cross infection we are trying to stop
If people did as they were told
then close relatives we could hold
Xmas fare and some beers
Could fill this home with some cheer
HEART STRINGS
At this crazy time of year
I get this funny tummy feeling queer
Nostalgic thoughts of family far and near
Get togethers with wine and beer
Coming from a big family
I like to meet greet and play
Having loved ones altogether
Telling jokes having a good blether
Sadly, this year has been given a blast
No more gathering in groups alas
Welcoming each other on a screen
The only way my heart strings glean.
XMAS 2020
It’s not a time to be on your own
Especially when the family has flown
A phone call WhatsApp or Skype will do
For mums and dads who are feeling blue
The festive season is for the younger generation
But the sights and sounds will be missed by a nation
By grans and grandads and siblings galore
This rubbish year will go down in folklore
To keep us healthy is the reason
For all the restrictions in this season
No one wants to be a statistic fool
So stick to the government’s golden rule.
HOPE
The news looks good a vaccine to try on us
Will we finally be able to beat the virus
Trials are going on all over the world
Is this the last and final hurl
Birthdays anniversaries celebrations too
Families over the nation can renew
Eating and drinking having lots of fun
The health of the country can start to run
Jobs for those put out on furlough
Getting the hours and earning their own dough
No more panic buying in the store
Shelves and shelves of loo roll galore
Now we can all get back to nor
The government can all be formal
Creating a country happy and fed
The last thing is putting Brexit to bed.
