Description

Poets almost always write about their own experiences, thoughts and feelings from their own particular perspectives. That perspective can be constant and thus become an affirmation of what they think and feel. But it also can change, for like all artists, a poet’s work is also an exploration into his or her own psyche and the psyches of the people in their lives and around them. They understand that change, if we respect it and appreciate it and accept it, often means real growth. I Am the Poetry of Self Realization is a perfect example of this process. Although born into poverty, crime and discrimination, Lamp Cruickshank’s intelligence and artistic sensibility remained intact. The poems in this collection show the spirit of not only will, but plain old-fashioned grit, the grit to overcome seemingly unbeatable odds that create disadvantage and succeed. Mr. Cruickshank’s writing talent is obvious, his vocabulary original and always interesting and his ideas are thought provoking. He is a poet who not only has something to say, he is also a poet who possesses the words and intelligence to express it. His readers will be well-rewarded by this book and look forward to the many more that are to come.

About the Author
My birth name is Lamptey Cruickshank but I go by Lamp Cruickshank and my Spiritual name is Cossimoses The First (A Living Pharaoh) That what you shall be. I am born of the seed of the indigenous GA tribe of Ghana. I started off on the wrong path blinded far from truth, lost like most people born to this world littered with falsehoods and division. I grew up on the south side of Chicago Illinois in a slum neighborhood known as Englewood. I was introduced to the Black P Stone Nation by my older brother at an early age and was fascinated by the teachings of the Five highest Principles known to man. Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom and Justice. After feeling hopeless and weak for most of my childhood I finally began to feel Powerful, Almighty, knowing that I was a part of something great. I held dearly the teachings of the Chief Malik Kaabah Prince Angel and Noble Drew Ali whom I deem as Prophets because their messages and teachings are powerful and life changing. But growing up in Chicago was a horrible experience, everyday love was met by hate and this hate was the norm.

Big cities in America are cesspools of violence and crime, people are angry, frustrated and miserable due to the fact that when millions of people are bunched up together living in the same area, the system of democracy fails them. There are not enough jobs to sustain the masses of people therefore poverty rules the land and people will do whatever they feel they must to try to escape their impoverished reality and sense of hopelessness. Some will choose using drugs as their escape route while others choose selling drugs or robbery. This constitutes a dangerous environment where no one is ever safe and anything could happen at any given moment. By being born and raised in an environment of this nature no matter what teachings a person may have had it was easy to fall astray especially for a child with an immature mind. I jumped right into the bullshit and was consumed by it quickly and ended up going to prison by the age of 17 for a crime I was innocent of. But being innocent didn’t matter in the city of Chicago and in the American Judicial System if you are a person with no job and an alibi that you were at home with your mother and grandmother at the time of the shooting, the district attorney can easily persuade a jury to convict you beyond a reasonable doubt. They will tell the jury that your mother and grandmother is lying for you because they love you and don’t want you to go to prison. So, I ended up being wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 25 yrs in prison and my accusers who were hand-picked by the crooked police officers that arrested me were all able to have their felony unrelated drug cases dismissed once my conviction was confirmed.

My fight was not over, through my process of false imprisonment I studied fact and not fiction. I studied as many religions as I could get my hands on and I came to the realization that all institutionalized religions were a mixture of truth and falsehood. But the people who institutionalized them encourage you to accept the whole doctrine and dogma as truth, which promotes confusion, division and sometimes hate. I began to see how many wisdom teachers, Prophets and seer’s wrote lessons to teach the world but their teachings were later turned into the very things they were against which debased their teachings and turned their teachings into just another side causing more division in the world which prohibits our evolution as a species. People take a side and believe that theirs is right and yours is wrong, when in actuality all of them are based on some form of truth that should never be disregarded or condemned as totally wrong. I realized that people need to learn that all the world’s religions are lessons that we should all embrace and study and learn to grow spiritually from them all, for every great teacher seer and prophet had a different way to teach and reach the masses of humanity.

The bottom line is that the path of humanity and our salvation is love. The love of self-first and through this love of the self (Our higher self) which is the only true self will bring forth the love of our fellow brother man and woman. All is one there is no black, white, yellow, brown etc. There is only us, one human species and one people, the wide spread notion that separate races exist in this human family on one planet is a lie. Racism is stupidity and ignorance at its greatest height and should have been expelled from the human thought centuries ago. Animals have different colors in their skins and coats but if they are of the same species, they see no difference in one another and treat each other the same. Only man has been stupid enough to separate themselves by color and this ignorance must stop in order for us to evolve and get past this 5% low brain functioning. We must let go of mind prisons that we place on ourselves by refusing to grow the fuck up and think in the form of unity instead of division.

So, in the process of my wrongful incarceration I began to write poetry as a stress reliever to cope with all the ignorance, stupidity and immaturity I found the company of throughout my incarceration. Through this talent I inherited I began to see the self-transformation abilities my poetry had and the effects it had on me to transform myself into a better person. I wrote and I grew, I wrote and I grew even more and I still write and continue to grow. Man is a two part being for we have a higher self and a lower self, the Prophet Noble Drew Ali called it truth and falsehood strangely mixed. The lower self is the fleshly carnal nature that will die and our higher self is the true self our divine self that is one with the creator and source of all things past, present and future. In order for Man to grow and learn to use more than the sorry 5% or less of our brains that scientist claim is the maximum amount we can use, we must awaken to what we truly are and learn to look within. We must learn to stop searching for our God on the outside and instead learn to find the God that is within each and every one of us. Man must look within if he is to find his salvation, for we are divine, we always have and always will be. Man is pure consciousness and consciousness created everything. We must learn to let go of the traditions of the earth that keep us divided, afraid and hateful. These traditions that have been passed down for thousands of years that divide us were created in a time when man was primitive in his thinking and sought to be more important than his counterparts. Created through a false sense of Phony race pride that must now come to an end before it destroys us.

Man must awaken and become one and learn to look at the things that bring us together instead of the things that divide us. We must focus on spiritual growth instead of the carnal growth that leads to death and nothingness. We must learn to see this life as a school for spiritual growth through character building instead of seeking pleasures until we die. If you are a liar then you should practice telling the truth, if you are a thief then you should practice giving and not wanting anything in return. If you are lazy then practice being active. If you like being fake practice being real say what is on your mind not what you think people want to hear from you to like you. If you are greedy then pra
