A Note from the Author
PREFACE AND DEDICATION
M y very first book, A Farm Girl’s Memories, was published in the summer of 2020. Many let me know how much they enjoyed the book, and numerous people said I should write a sequel. My initial thoughts were, “No. . . I do not want to go through all that work, and likely face many challenges, frustrations, and obstacles again.” My goal of actually writing a book was accomplished, and that should be satisfaction enough. My book made it into the hands of a considerable number of readers . . . more than I ever anticipated! It was extremely amazing the many people who wound up with a copy. I made contacts with people I knew from the past whom I had not been in touch with for years! That was really special! So I was completely satisfied with the outcome of my first book. But thoughts of writing another book would not go away. To be able to communicate to others in a book is very worthwhile to me. One night when reading in a devotional book, again I felt the answer was “Yes, write book number two.” Being I felt compelled to do it, I think that was God’s answer. I am 77 years old already, and the years are so swiftly ticking by . . . what would I still like to do in life? When I look at it from that perspective, the answer is definitely yes---I would like to write another book!
Once I told a friend I feel I can verbalize myself on paper better sometimes than in live conversation. I like to be able to express things from deep down and put in print what I am thinking. It is good to get my feelings, thoughts, and stories written down in order to share them with others. But more than that, I want the book to honor God, and I pray that I will be led by the Spirit to write things that could help others in their day-to-day living. I want to tell the truth about God, help people grow in Him, and get both believers and nonbelievers thinking about spiritual things.
So these thoughts keep coming to my mind, nudging and prodding me; yes, maybe I can write another book. And the ideas for it begin to trickle in. The catchy title would be Little Angels and Mighty Angels, and I could include stories and happenings from where I left off with my first book. You will just have to read the book to see where the angels come in. I do enjoy writing, and that would justify writing another book which takes a LOT of time, hard work, effort, dedication, enthusiasm, and fortitude. I like sharing stories and happenings that have transpired . . . put it in writing for my husband, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, and hopefully many others. I once heard someone say, “Everyone has a story to tell.” I like that, and I think it is true. Everyone perhaps does not care to tell their story or share it, and that is okay. It is up to each person individually, but I have the time and I do not mind sharing some more of my story. I began my story in A Farm Girl’s Memories, and I will continue my story in Little Angels and Mighty Angels. My first book was dedicated to a good friend, Linda, who had once said that I should write a book. And it was because of that one comment that I finally wrote a book! I also dedicated it to my husband and our four daughters. This second book I would like to dedicate again to my husband, daughters, and also to my four wonderful sons-in-law, and my grandchildren. I may show partiality when it comes to family, but I am very fond of them and feel God has blessed us with a wonderful family! I hope you enjoy the various happenings, events, and stories that I have included in my second book.
My thanks again to those who edited my book---daughter Nichole, sister Darlene, friend Renetta Brovont, and a couple others who preferred to remain anonymous. I could not have done it without them. Their help was invaluable and so appreciated!
My prayer for my book was that God would lay on my heart what to write and that it would be a blessing to many others. I needed His guidance so my thoughts and words would be an inspiration to others and benefit them in some way as they continued daily along life’s journey. There was also some spiritual insight included which I hoped would be helpful. It is so important to use every opportunity to tell others about Christ and His love for everyone. I feel strongly my opportunity in my retirement is to be a witness with the words in my book! As for the title, Little Angels and Mighty Angels . . . we have angels all around us, even if we do not sense their presence. Psalm 103:20-21 says, “Praise the Lord, you His angels, you MIGHTY ONES [or those who excel in strength] who do His bidding [or commandments], who obey His word. Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, you His servants who do His will.”
As a Christian, I believe and hopefully expect powerful, mighty, guardian angels to be beside me, watching over me each day, as I travel down the paths of life. Perhaps at the last minute we did not board a bus, get in a taxi, get on a plane, or we took a different road because angels directed us away from major trouble or a serious accident. There may be, however, some instances when a person can sense one of these special heavenly beings intervening in their lives, guarding and protecting. In this book, Little Angels and Mighty Angels , you can read of some of those special times when I believe God, through His angels, protected me and my family. My first book was mostly about my younger and teenage years when I was growing up on our small farm. This second book will include what I did after college, married life, some trips, raising a family, and on up to my life now as a 77-year-old. So it is time for you to sit down, relax and put your feet up, and enjoy Little Angels and Mighty Angels.
I will conclude here with a verse I love in Psalm 91:11-12, “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” What a beautiful, wonderful verse promising us security and protection.
