Description

Nature Whispers as the Trees Speak is a book of poetry depicting Nature's wondrous ability to help humans discover the unity of all creation.
Metaphor for My Mind
Clear the clutter from my mind;
Thoughts upon thoughts
Leave me blind.
Clear the clutter,
Poison ivy of the mind.
Clip entangled vines that bind.
Pruned away now,
Useless past behind,
Thoughts depart, leaving
Peace of mind.
For author Christine J. K. Kanakis, the purpose of writing it to understand herself more completely. She both reads and creates in response to the need to find out more than she is already conscious of and to connect with a person or spirit on a parallel path of exploration, searching for understanding of the truth within all of us.
Nature Whispers as the Trees Speak presents a poetic collection about self-discovery through adventuring in natural surroundings, spending time experiencing different cultures, and pausing long enough to notice the unity of all creation. When we awaken to the knowledge that we are all connected, we experience gratitude, and a desire emerges to wish all a healthy and prosperous existence. Each new day provides an opportunity to scrap old patterns of thinking and embark on an adventure of self-discovery.

About the Author

To my grandmother, Lela Traver,
who asked me to document my communications with Nature and Spirit

Thousands of books upon the shelves,
                        each a testimony to
                        someone pursuing a true self...
Preface
I suppose the purpose of all writing is to understand oneself more completely. What else could it be? When I walk into a bookstore and spot an interesting title, I glance around and see thousands of other volumes of the written word, waiting silently for someone to notice them.
What causes me to be attracted to this particular book? Ultimately, it is the need to find out more than I am already conscious of, or perhaps it is to connect with a person or spirit who is on a parallel path of self-discovery.
My grandmother once suggested that I write a bit each day. I tried several years ago and threw out most of what I wrote about my spiritual experiences because I had the fear that someone would find them, read them, and mock me. I no longer have that fear. My experiences in life have taught me that fear only stagnates growth and postpones understanding the truth within myself.
Each day is unique. What is it I experienced today that helped me to know “me” better? Each new dawn provides an opportunity to scrap old patterns of thinking that block progress and pushes me into an adventure of self-discovery.

May I cleanse my own mind and heart and house
and not worry about someone else’s.
