Description

POETIC TRANSITIONS SPRING: Third of a Four-Part Poetry Series contains poetry that been written during the last decade of my life. There are love stories, though some love was lost, the love was real while it lasted. There were strives and struggles for some graduates, but they made it. There was the loss of loved ones, but there was the feeling of honor that the Lord allowed us to share time and space with those precious souls while they were here. And there, of course, is other poetry about family and friend relationships and situations. Hopefully you will be able to feel the poetry as you read it. Someone on television once said that he was told that once he suffers more, he will become a better writer. If that is true, I am on my way to becoming one of the best!

B lanket A cknowledgement
Whether you prayed for me, or whether you played me, whether you helped me, or whether you hurt me, whether you reprimanded me or reached me, you contributed to making me the “Poetress With A Purpose!”
S pecial A cknowledgements
To anyone that entrusted me with words that they were momentarily unable to express regarding their deceased loved ones, it is an honor and a privilege to have been able to do so. Thank you for allowing me to, through my poetic talent, express your proposed sentiment on your loved ones obituaries in this book.
To those who entrusted me to pay Amish to their loved ones who are still alive with positive sentiments, through spoken poetry on their special occasions or here in this book. It is a rewarding and emotionally compensating experience to have been allowed to do so.
E ternal D edication
Let it be understood, that if to no one else, ANY and EVERY honorable and positive thing that I do, is dedicated to my ALMIGHTY Heavenly Father, God. He has blessed me with the talent that I have, and I bless him by pursuing that talent and always giving him and the kingdom praise.
Now beginning with the living first, what I do is dedicated to my four children: Clifton DalJuan Xavier Henry, Chorlandrious Raigh Henry, Christopher Edward Reese Earl, Keon Jayverick Deshawn Earl, who have all made me feel that no matter what I lost in life; God has always compensated me with so much more. We have loved, laughed, and learned together. Thanks for helping me to grow up.
Taylen Keontae Keys, my lil smoot smoot, and Deshawn Jakel Tillman, the muffin man. My two grandsons. I cannot describe the feeling of becoming a grandmother, whereas my mother was not afforded the opportunity. They alone make me strive for excellence!
To Mrs. Janet W. Ward, OMG, there is not enough gratitiude to express, there are no words to say, how many times you have saved my life in more than one way.
Now to the gone but not forgotten:
To my biological mom, Ms. Ruby Lee Madison, for having served her divine purpose in allowing her body to serve as a vehicle of transportation for getting me here.
To my great aunt/foster mother, Mrs. Corine Wesley Taylor, who basically adopted me, when no one else fostered hope after the passing of my biological mother when I was such a young age. Thank you for attempting to serve me in motherhood until you passed when I was only fourteen.
To my Godmother, Mrs. Hattie Elizabeth Harrison-Archie, for having interceded after Aunt Corine’s death when I needed a family the most and my biological relatives abandoned and neglected me.
To Aunt Lou Ella, who always encouraged me, believed in me, and had nothing less than a kind word to say! For always having been a courageous soul and giving me a true sense of unfailing family.
To Aunt Lucille, for attempting to be the mother to me that her sister did not get to live to be. For being the ride or die soldier for her family that she was. And leaving an undying legacy of strength.
To Ethel Mae Green Hines, I thought we were closer than for you to have left without saying goodbye. But you did not tell any of us that, so I guess I should not take it personally. I miss the time we were close. Your words of encouragement. Your emotional and financial support. Your advice and jokes. But God knows best.
To my cousin, who became like a sister, Zelda Hicks for having always been the strong and spiritual individual that she was. For not having been afraid to step forward and participate in her divine purpose in mine and my children’s lives by having welcomed us into her heart and home in Toledo, Ohio. For having believed in us and participated in attempting to help us have a brighter future.
To my younger cousin, oldest son of Zelda, Samuel Desean Watson. I did not know you left this world. Like a little nephew versus a cousin to me. Proud that you have a son to live out your legacy since you left at such a young age. Thankful that you also participated in having welcomed myself and your cousins into your home when we relocated to Toledo, Ohio.
To my biological dad, Isaiah Square for doing the same as my mom, serving his purpose whether I understood it or not. But we made it alright before his death.
Be it understood that everything I do is likewise ALWAYS in honor of Mr. Eddie Taylor, my father, my Paw Paw, for sharing his life, his love, and Christianity. For always having loved me with a “Tupac” attitude—him against the world! For always having loved me just as Jesus does, unconditionally and truly.
To my Godfather Houston Hines Sr. for having participated in nourishing my dreams, talents, and ambitions. For always having believed in me and what I could do and sharing kind and encouraging words and advice.
