Description

If you enjoy short poems about nature, women's empowerment, birth and death then this book may resonate with your heart. Even if you do not normally enjoy poetry, you may want to try this little book of poems, there are a few gems that may help in your adventure through life.
This little book of poems is rich with insight. There are magical word images that help us connect with the natural world. There is insight into experiences that are common and yet utterly unusual. Brenda has a gift of calm, patient, observation. She honed her gifts from years of experience as a Midwife, sharing in the sacred gift of birth. Her unusual perspective comes from being an Anglo female, who lived on two Indian reservations, loving the people and welcoming their babies onto the planet. She wrote for herself and she wrote for you.

About the Author
Gaming
On a hill caught a star.
Glowing peach orb
now lives in Zelda’s box.
Horney Toad
Mashing loam,
Footprints
sink silt.
Precious
pollen
placed
on grandfather’s
back.
Rubbery
spikes
hold close.
Place
next
to
your
heart.
The old one—
two teeth,
gummy smile—
whispers.
Rise
Women are drumming.
The water is rising,
and they are too.

Moon whispers
into their songs.
Feet play with the earth.

She hears their voices,
feels their toes,
links heartbeat with drum.

Hidden in plain sight,
they stand together,
an ant raft
holding paws.
Dusk Memories
Mushy red sweetness
over lips onto tongue.
Sipping warm rose tea,
last of this day’s sun
settles in streaks on the floor.
This is the gloaming,
the tween time.
Sharp edges soften.
Everything in the room turns
gooey and golden,
like the time
my mother tucked me
into my bed of green,
and I turned into a strawberry.
