Description

SILVER RAIN is drawn form the author's personal musings and romantic experiences, which take the reader on a romantic journey that will help them understand their own inner values in how they relate to another significant person in their lives. Whether a full committed relationship, or through other involvements or interludes with partners, her writings show the importance of evolvement of the human spirit.
SILVER RAIN, a 3-volume book, takes the reader on an evocative and thrilling ride through romance and interludes in a type of descriptive writing that ‘old school’ romance writers once used. It covers the gamut of innocent musings, love, heartbreak and loss in passages remiscent of T.S. Elliot, Saigo, and Pablo Neruda. The author escorts its readers into an evocative world that defies time, space, and current outlooks to swamp them with a magnificent array of writing that begins with her own self-descriptions, thoughts, musings and lyric writings that seem to spring from a type of modern VICTORIAN setting. Her writing style transports you to a sweeter, better existence of life and love in all its trappings, realizations, and final acceptance of life rules and processes. This book is a must-read for those who are die-hard romantics, or for those who can really appreciate the written word. SILVER RAIN is a compelling and uplifting work of art, innocent yet seductive, that can be enjoyed and reread for many years to come.

This book is dedicated to all my loves—past, present, and future. To my past loves: this book could not have been born without you, and I thank you for all of the love, happiness, tears, and pain. To my present loves: thank you so much for your support and concern in helping me move forward with my dreams, even though the task seemed near impossible. To my future loves, whomever you may be, you are welcomed into my life, my heart, my arms, and my dreams.
Special Mention: Marion E. Lilly, my mother, a courageous woman who, although crippled from childhood, raised three girls by herself, giving them the best that the middle-class experience had to offer. She obtained a college degree at the age of seventy.
PREFACE
An astrologer once told me that I was unique in the fact that I truly understand the nature of love, both personally or universally. He called me “the lover” for I do truly love.
My heart is full enough to encompass many, and it has been said that those who have been loved by me have truly been loved. All of us—the great, the weak, the small—need love in some way, form, or fashion. Love is magic; its uplifting and transformative qualities are truly unique, and its balm can heal the wounds of nations.
There is no shame in feeling love, only in the love one may feel for another—of being afraid of expressing that love. Love is one of nature’s and God’s most precious gifts.
There is no fear in my heart and no shame within me when I say I love you for love is the greatest force of all. Love is genuine and enduring, yet asks for nothing in return save for acknowledgement and acceptance. In other words, it asks for itself.
It does not seek to tie or bind, it does not barter for jewels or gold, it does not contain, provide compromises, or trade-offs, nor does it seek to subjugate or rule. Love is simply this: an eternal flame that burns brightly in the heart of us all. Pristine, pure, open, giving, nurturing, and forgiving.
Love is the best gift that I have, and I give it to you gladly, joyously, and with all of my heart. As the writer and poet Kahlil Gibran said, “My heart is an open circle.”

BOOK ONE:
Love in Bloom
SILVER RAIN
There are tears
under my laughter
and joy
beneath my pain
that fall into my heart
like a silent silver rain
of pure elation.

There are Iwells of feelings
bubbling up
from within
the subterranean passages
of my soul,
which once were closed
but now are open.

To begin.
CREATE ME
Create me
inside your dreams,

and I will come and live with you.
I will come
and love with you,
dance with you,
transform you.

Change your being
into pure essence
of life and love,
wantonness
and purity.

Call me and I will come
again and again
from far and distant shores.

For I am love—unknown.
I am love—unsurpassed.

I am love—
unconquered!
MY LOVE
My love,
which is divine,
which knows no rules
or limitations,
seeks to embrace all,
flows like the rivers
of timeless time
to nurture and protect,
uplift and set free,
and then return
to the eternal sea
from whence came me.

My love
has no seasons
nor reasons to be,
is not governed nor questioned
by the laws of man,
chooses at will
upon whom to bestow
all of love’s
lush bounties and mysteries.
In other words,
my love is free,
governed solely
by me!
ID
I am one
surrounded by many
unlike me,
so different,
so strange,
always remaining
the same,
somehow untouched,
somehow free
yet chained to a me
I cannot explain
to others:

Awake yet asleep inside,
torn with grief and sorrow
and unspoken rage,
covered over with smiles
and unnecessary lies …
poses,
which form a mask
for all to see.

This, then, is me:
master of my fate
yet enslaved to reality,
living on
in gossamer hopes and dreams,
Striving to reach
the mountaintops
while yet afloat
upon a sea of glass,
smiling into
the faces of daisies
as I tiptoe down
long corridors of life,
of many labyrinthine turns
with never-ending surprises.

This, then
is me:

Adrift, alone
in my own beingness;
entranced, enthralled
by my own longings;
captured yet free
while belonging to me;
uniquely individualized;
a whole separate entity
apart from the rest.
And one of the best!
A PARODY OF LOVE I
With love, I write and sing and dance.
Love motivates me from within;
it colors all my playful moods,
my every impulse, urge, and whim.
With joy and love, I pen my words.
My love embraces all I see,
and like on high the soaring birds,
my love is oft returned to me.
The love I speak of in this verse
is something different, something fine;
though fleeting and impertinent,
this love, I know, is truly mine.
This love surrounds me,
passes through me—
is within and without me,
uplifts me, calms me,
caresses, cools, and soothes me.
This love is mine yet not mine,
personal yet impersonal.
It is the love of life, of beingness,
of the me that I am and have the right to be;
of bounty and splendor, truth and light,
agony and ecstasy.
This love is the love, the reality,
the truth that I hold within.
SEASONS I
Time whispers challenges
of wild elation,
plucks sweet sorrows
from the brow,

evaporates into
unparalleled space,
emerges free and
unconquered as the wind

to whisper a question …

to state an answer.

Love is a season

to begin.
A PARODY OF LOVE
What is love?
You feel it, sense it,
taste, and smell it.
It goes nowhere
yet covers all.
What is love?

Ah , love.
The flowers bloom;
spring bursts forth
in all its radiant glory,
and once again
I think of you.

I remember you
As fleeting glimpses
of love’s lost yesterdays
come to me anon
from the far, distant past.
I thought that love
would always last,
but there was other love to come.
What is love?
Love is everything yet nothing.
When you take me in your arms
and we know each other’s charms,
is that love?

Oh , love,
why do you elude me?

I call to you
from the deep wells of my soul,
and yet you remain silent.
Then, when I least expect it,
you turn to me
and shower me with your radiance,
sparkling and showering,
brilliant yet subdued,
and a million star-shadows
explode within my mind
and bathe and lull
my aching
