Introduction
To all of us while living this thing called life some rain must fall, which sparked the idea for this book of poetry. I’m sure we all have experienced some good days as well as some bad days just while trying to navigate through our journey here on earth. With that said, we as human beings were made to be “social” creatures. We are designed to be compassionate, loving and caring folks even though sometimes we may become overwhelmed, disgusted and confused by the thoughts and actions of others especially those we have chosen to get to know on a more personal or intimate level such as close friends and lovers. This book captures some of the hopes, thoughts, and dreams as well as the disappointments, frustrations and loneliness we experience straight from the heart regarding the two most expressed feelings Known to mankind, love and pain. Hopefully this book will serve as a source of inspiration for you as you maneuver through your own experiences of love and pain. Please know I’m coming straight from the heart to ease your mind from the very start.
Let your emotions flow,
WRITINGLY YOURS,
Ingrid Green
Straight From The Heart: Love
Making Love Last
How do you make love last? You just let it do what it do,

How do you make love last? Let love come shining through.

You just continue to live it one day at a time,

Yes walking together in the great sunshine,

That’s right by enjoying all the joys and sharing the pain,

By sharing all the triumphs and all the hurts that remain

When sorrow comes along your way,

Just hold on to each other and pray.

How do you make love last?

It’s real simple to me,

How do you make love last?

By being the you each other see

Still The One
Why am I still the one who stayed?

The one who prayed?

When the others let you down,

I was always still around.

Why am I still the one who tried,

To keep you satisfied?

While the others only cried,

Still I stayed by your side.

Why am I the one to understand?

The one to hold your hand?

Like no one else can,

I’ll proclaim to be your man.

You wonder why I am still the one?

Who has had lots of fun,

From the rising of the sun,

With you until the day is done.

I can tell you why I’m still the one,

It’s because I truly care,

I’ll always be there,

To offer up a prayer,

Whenever, everywhere,

Because I truly love you,

Until this world is through,

Take my hand and say “I Do”,

And united in marriage you too,

Will always say I’m still the one!

Guarded Woman
Guarded woman so far away,

Guarded woman why can’t you stay?

Oh so close so close to me,

Open your eyes now and see,

That I am your soul mate standing here,

Waiting for you so patiently my dear,

Yes please look up at me now as I stare,

Wanting you to know how much I care,

For you, acknowledge me and look into my eyes,

Was my daily wish but suddenly to my surprise,

One day you did oh such a happy day,

My heart skipped a beat, as you looked my way.

I thought what if I don’t matter as she looks at me?

But through my eyes I always felt you would see,

The true and real man yes the real me,

Who had loved you oh for so long,

Like the sweet lyrics from his favorite song.

How I long to hear you say hello to me,

Imagined it in my dreams and now suddenly,

The time is here yes the time is now,

So guarded woman please take your bow,

And let me come into your world,

Just let go and get to know me girl.

I’m not like the others and soon you’ll see,

C’mon do it today just acknowledge me,

And I promise I’ll do all the rest,

I promise I will pass your test.

I’ll be the Christian man you’ve been waiting for,

Your knight in shining armor and so much more,

Just say hello now will you please?

This I’ve asked of God on bended knees.

I’ve been watching you from a distance so far away,

While always thinking she will be mine one day,

And here’s my chance, oh yes that’s right you know,

Please please smile and look my way so,

My heart is pounding like a school boy it’s true,

I’ve waited and waited oh so long for you,

And now I see your pretty smile,

Oh God how I’d walk mile after mile,

Just to see that pretty smile again,

Guarded woman where have you been?

I think so many places you never wanted to go,

So please come sit a while and tell me so,

I can ease your pain and troubled mind,

Because with me I know you’ll certainly find,

The peace and happiness you are searching for,

It seems to me that you’ve lost that and more,

It seems to me as I look into your eyes,

I see many a tear you may have cried.

It seems to me that’s why you are so far away,

Never wanting to get close to a man but not today,

Oh no now you are sitting down next to me,

Time for step one, two and may be three,

As I look and smile back at you,

And extend my hand you shake my hand too.

And now that I’ve got you staring in my face,

I feel like dancing yes all over the place,

And I am not a dancer but may be you can teach me,

Because there are places we will go and people we will see,

Together we will travel to distant lands you know,

Together we’
