Pitter-patters are those feet,

Dancing in my head.

Little hands, little feet

Curled into my side.

Making mud pies,

Hopping jump rope,

Playing hopscotch,

Mending cuts,

Untying laces,

Kissing tears away.

But those would not be my experiences,

As I shunned you

And tossed you far away.
Addiction

You are the addiction

I worked so hard to overcome.

I cannot return,

In this season of pain,

To the thing that almost broke me,

Nearly drove me insane.

You are the addiction

I worked so hard to overcome.

Robbed me of my positivity,

Stole so many nights sleep,

Took away my energy,

You plunged me into the deep.

You are the addiction

I worked so hard to overcome.

Lost my taste buds,

Dropped oh so much weight,

Down trodden and dejected,

I lost my carefree gait.

You are the addiction,

To which I cannot return.
