The Promise
By: Crystal Dishmon
After many years of giving me the silent treatment, my broken heart spoke to me.
It said try your hardest to guard and shield me.
I’m no longer equipped to love so freely.
It said please protect me from those who mean me harm because I am too precious.
To be,
To be,
It was as if my broken heart was having a hard time finding the words to say to me.
So, I said please take your time there is no need to rush.
Then it said to me, I am too precious.
To be mistreated.
To be neglected.
