Here Still
My dearest you left to that p lace
where we’ll surely meet a gain.
But you are with me here.
The memories ease the pain
that creeps upon me as I hear
things which would have made you s mile.
Tears may run down my face
more in joy than sorrow to know
that you are with me s till
to share them any how.
The Watch
I have a chased case of gold, all of nine ca rats.
A porcelain dial with Roman numerals ar ound.
Not a chip or a crack, I really am per fect.
The loveliest watch that ever was f ound.
To keep friction down, when I am wor king
I have bearings of rubies, seven all told.
Shiny steel plates hold my gears in p lace
and my hairspring is beauty to be hold.
I was shown on the telly and then sold at auc tion
bought by someone to put on dis play
As I lay here I’ve not much to say
I only tell the right time twice every day.
I Did Not Know
I did not know when first we met
that we’d start a dance of life.
I did not know when first we met
that dance would be quite fra ntic.
I did not know when first we met
that love would grow and grow.
I did not know when first we met
that love could be like m agic.
I did not know when first we met
the marriage oath we’d take.
I did not know when first we met
the journeys together we’d make.
I did not know when first we met
the years we’d live toge ther.
I did not know when first we met
in silence our thoughts we’d know.
I did not know when first we met
you would be the first t o go.
I did not
