Description

The large double doors opened on their own sensing its master's return. The circle foyer was pristine white with a large chandelier made of glass in the shape of a fire ball hanging down. The light streaming through the window over the door hit the chandelier causing the reflection on the walls to give the illusion the area was on fire. A circular staircase made of glass leading to the second floor was wrapped around the foyer hidden in plain sight.

Introduction by A. G. Harrison

Introduction

From the time human felt the necessity to communicate, he realized the value of the written word and wrote by drawing on cave walls, clay tablets, stones, papyrus, parchment, paper, and today, with the development of technology, he has created e-books.

The object "book" is classified in industrial products, but at the same time it is a cultural good. Personally, I emphasize both of its dimensions, but mainly in its cultural dimension. I consider the book to be the most important expression of culture because quite simply, in addition to being the same work of art, it supports all other expressions of culture.

As an industrial product, through the many stages of its creation and before it reaches the hands of the reader, it financially supports a wide range of professions, such as writers, philologists, translators, designers, publishers, paper merchants, printing houses, bookbinders, distributors and, finally, bookstores… Let us not forget, of course, that today it also greatly supports the huge online market industry.

The governments of many countries, studying and delving into the economic benefits of the book, have invested and supported this industry in various ways, which flourished and offered them great financial gains.

Starting with the Sumerians, Babylonians and other peoples of Mesopotamia, who wrote on clay tablets, Egyptians and Romans, who wrote on papyrus, the Jews on parchment, the evolution with handwritten books images in the Middle Ages in Europe, the creation of the first wooden typographic elements and paper by the Chinese, who printed the first books, the discovery of metallic elements by the German Johannes Gutenberg during the Renaissance and the really rapid development of printing in 1450 until 1456 and, finally, during the 19th-20th century the Industrial Revolution, which makes the production of the book flourish are some examples of the value of the written word.

The agony and effort of all these civilized societies, over time, in various parts of the world, teaches us that the book is an integral part of human existence.

Throughout this course the book records and transports from the depths of the centuries ancient civilizations, which teach us about the mistakes that we can avoid or imitate the achievements of our ancestors and adopt timeless principles and values, supplies for survival. but also the evolution of the human species.

By reading a book, we have the opportunity to create with our imagination the heroes of history, landscapes, various objects, etc. In the pages of a book, the author, in addition to his study, research, experiences, also expresses his feelings. He makes us members of his own world and gives us the opportunity to learn.

It helps us to acquire knowledge but also to enrich our vocabulary, improving our own writing.

It contributes to our mental alertness, increases the ability to focus, improves our memory, helps to develop our analytical mental abilities, entertains us, calms us down and helps reduce stress.

Of course, apart from the importance of touch and contact with a hot material, reading a quality book contributes significantly and decisively to our self-education, the cultivation of critical thinking, the upgrading of our aesthetics and consequently contributes to our quality of life.

It conveys art, informs, cultivates the spirit and the soul, elevates intelligence, finds solutions to problems, conveys messages, circulates ideas, forms consciences.

I hope my books convey a message of personal experiences and you could find segments of your own truth as well.

Thank you in advance for being here and being ready to start reading.
Chapter 1

Athena’s stomach woke her up with a grumble. The smell of sausage and cinnamon filled the air arousing her senses. A light breeze was blowing through the window of the bedroom carrying the distant sounds of cars. She rolled over slowly to look at the spot next to her where Ransom had slept. It was still slightly warm from his body letting her know he hadn’t been up for long. Getting up and pulling on her robe, she followed her nose to the kitchen to see Ransom turning the sausage over when she walked in. She leaned against the wall frame admiring the way his back muscle rippled as he moved. He turned as he sensed he was being watched and smiled at her.

“Good morning,” she said.

“Hello and its afternoon.”

Athena glanced at the clock on the microwave. “Oh, I was supposed to meet Crystal.”

“It’s okay I talked to her while you were sleeping. Apparently we weren’t the only ones attacked last night by some lost souls. Their attack came after ours in the middle of the night so Crystal said she would call when she got up.”

“Is everyone okay?”

“Yup, our assassins failed at their mission so we are guessing next time there will be more of them.”

“What were they doing at the Reese’s house if I was here?”

“They weren’t looking for you, they were sent to kill Rashon.”

“Crystal must be worried sick.”

“Rashon seemed more worried about Crystal. How are you feeling?”

“I’m still a little sore from being thrown up against a glass door.”

“And from the other things that happened last night?”

She smiled a little and felt her cheeks heat up. “Still a little sore, but fine.”

The timer on the oven sounded so Athena grabbed an oven mitt to take out whatever was in it. The cinnamon smell flowed out when she opened the door filling the air and her stomach growled.

“I’m glad you’re hungry.”

Athena turned to answer and came face to face with Ransoms chest. She looked up and he bent down and kissed her. He cupped her butt pulling her forward against him and low moan escaped from her as she felt him growing hard. He slowly teased the inside of her mouth with his tongue before breaking the kiss.

“I don’t need you fainting on me so let’s get you feed before we get started.”

“Besides taking me back to bed; what did you have planned for the day?”

He smiled. “Taking you back to bed hadn’t been part of the plan, but now that I know what’s on your mind.”

Her mouth fell open into an ‘O’ shape and Ransom laughed.

“It’s not funny,” she said backing out his arms. “Now I look like I only have sex on my mind.” She turned back to the dish she put on the counter and took the top off.

Ransom wrapped his arms around her waist. “My mom’s French Toast casserole.”

“It smells wonderful.”

“Just like you and for the record, there’s nothing wrong with a little sex on the brain.”

“This statement coming from a man.”

“True,” he sat his chin on her right shoulder. “My mom wants to meet you.”

She froze in the middle of cutting the casserole turning her head slightly. “You told her about me?”

He shrugged, “She asked why my sister wasn’t allowed to just pop over any more, so I explained to her that I now have a woman living here with me.”

“And what did she say?”

He moved away and began getting plates out of the cupboard. “Well she went from shocked to happy then to angry.”

“Why was she angry?”

“Because she says I trusted a woman enough to let her move in but not enough to meet my mother, to get her approval. I explained to her it was an emergency situation not planned.”

“She didn’t go for that, did she?”

“She did until she found out you’ve been here for almost a month. Then after that I got a long speech.”

Athena nodded.

“So I know you and Crystal have a lot planned for today but on Sunday, do you want to go to my mom’s for dinner with me?”

Athena was about to decline and remind him that she would be with her mother on Sunday when the note her father wrote her popped in her head.

‘When the man asks you to go, say yes.’ But he didn’t ask me to go; he asked if I wanted to go. Just because I want to meet his mother doesn’t mean he wants me to meet her. Maybe it does and I’m over thinking it.

“Athena?”

“Do you want me to come with you?”

“Yes, I want you to meet my family. So I’m asking can you, come with me to dinner Sunday?”

“Yes.”

He smiled then kissed her, but as they sat down to eat Athena got a strange feeling that wasn’t the question her father was talking about.

Nasir walked off his transport at the base of the mountain where Vascille had set up operation and looked around. After Athena released him, Vascille had wanted to stay in the mountains, but not trapped within. Vascille had willingly agreed to help make weapons to defeat anyone who practiced the dark arts. So far Vascille had only made weapons for Crystal and the others on Earth along with all the guards appointed to Nasirs protection. More weapons were now needed to be forged so Nasir appointed Vascille more crew to help.

Several new buildings had been built to accommodate all the work that needed to be done. Steam rose from the chimneys of several building and the sounds of transports flying around filled the air. A small loading dock had been placed at the center of the building formations to have easy access to all the buildings.

Jaron walked next to Nasir as they entered the main building where Vascille stayed. Everyone bowed as they made their way through to Vascille's office and out the corner of his eye, the shine of light brown hair caught Nasirs attention. He looked over to see a woman bowing her head. With her head still slightly bowed she glanced up at him from under long curled eyelashes.

“Have you seen her before?” he asked Jaron.

Jaron looked over following Nasir’s gaze and saw the woman as she rose up to co
