Scientist Trouble
R ummaging through his supplies Aster was getting ready to do something he’d dreamed of for years. He would enter the Oni Realm and capture an oni. But experiencing the oni fog was dangerous to humans. He felt like he was safe from this because of an experiment his father did on him. The experiment altered him greatly. He now was blue in color because he was 99% water and only 1% human. Surely, he could handle the oni fog. His friends Nick and Zane were not so convinced.
“Guys, this is a bad idea.” Zane sighed while holding a broom.
“Keep cleaning.” Aster said.
“Ok.” Zane mumbled. He continued cleaning the lab wondering why he even hung out with these guys. They were always getting into trouble and usually treated him like crap. He needed some money to help his mom out. Being a single mom isn’t easy and he wanted to help however he could. So for now this job would have to do.
“It’s getting really late guys. We should do the oni kidnaping tomorrow.” Zane said hoping to deter them.
“You just don’t want us to take an oni!” Nick yelled.
“Yeah!” Aster agreed.
For two years Aster had been inventing a teleporter gun in which to enter the oni realm. He worked endless hours and this morning finally put the finishing touches on it. Crossing his fingers, he hoped it would work. No body wants to be stuck in a realm with evil creatures.
Walking toward the foggy cliffs an oni thought about her life and how empty and dark it was . I don’t want to be evil anymore. I don’t understand why we are so cruel to humans when they don’t do anything to deserve it. She thought . “What am I thinking, oni’s can’t be good or nice! “Savannah yelled out loud.
Entering the Oni Realm Aster heard someone screaming and his heart began beating fast. He never dreamed he’d find an oni so quickly. He snuck around some rocks and spotted what looked like a girl somewhat, but definitely wasn’t human. It had pitch black skin, horns and a tail with purple hair. How should he introduce himself without startling it.
Clearing his throat, he slowly walked toward it, “Hello.” He spoke
“Human!” Savannah yelled.
“Are you an oni?” Aster asked.
“Yes, are you a blue human?” Savannah cried, hiding behind a rock.
Wow, oni’s are interesting beings , Aster thought.
“Get away or I will slaughter you!” Savannah yelled.
“Can you come here? I will not hurt you, I promise,” Aster smiled.
“Do you really promise?” Savannah asked.
“Of course, I always keep my promises,” Aster smiled slyly.
She walked up to Aster and as she got closer, he noticed fangs and purple eyes with skull shaped pupils. She also wore glasses which he thought was very odd.
“What is your name?” he asked.
“I’m Savannah.”
“That’s a cool name, Savannah,” Aster smiled trying to gain her trust.
Savannah began to feel panic grip her. She knew if she didn’t get home soon her father would come looking for her and slaughter this human on the spot and discipline her for not already doing so. She began walking backward toward her home.
“Wait!” Aster yelled.
“What is it?” Savannah asked.
“I have a gift for you.”
Curious, Savannah stepped toward him to see what was in his hand wondering why a human would give her anything. Suddenly, he grabbed her arm and before she knew it, he poked her with a needle. She immediately felt sleepy. “What have you done? “She mumbled.
“Let’s hope Aster didn’t die from the oni fog,” Nick said.
“Yeah, that would be sad,” Zane said while dusting a desk.
A bright light caught their eyes and as they turned Aster appeared and threw Savannah on the floor in front of them. She was not moving and they wondered if he killed her. He explained how he found her and put her to sleep with a tranquilizer shot.
“It’s really odd. Does it have a name? “Nick asked.
“I think it’s a girl and her name is Savannah. “Aster replied.
“I like her name. “Zane said.
As they were observing the oni Nick remembered promising his dad he’d help fix the car and he was already late. “I gotta go guys. Let’s wait until tomorrow to begin testing on her. She’s still asleep anyway.”
“Ok, I’ll see you tomorrow then,” Aster smiled.
“I’m going home as well,” Zane said. He exited the lab through the back door which automatically locked when it shut. He put on his helmet and rode his bike through Science City thinking about Savannah and wondering if Aster was going to harm her. He knew she would be scared when she woke up and was concerned for her.
Back at Aster’s lab Savannah finally woke up and realized she wasn’t in the Oni Realm anymore. Her eyes were not used to light so she squinted and looked around the room. She noticed she was in a tube and she could not get out. There were many wires and glass objects sitting on metal tables. Where was she? Aster approached her with a big grin on his face. He was pumped he finally had an oni.
“Where am I? “Savannah asked.
“You are in my lab,” Aster said while putting his hands on the tube.
“What do you want?” Savannah cried.
“I’m a scientist and I want to study you,” Aster explained.
“Why?” Savannah asked.
“Just shut up you dumb oni!” Aster yelled.
“Don’t call me dumb!” Savannah yelled back.
“I’m going to test on you tomorrow because it’s getting really late so I’ll see you then” Aster said.
As morning arrived Savannah struggled to get out of the tube wondering why her oni powers would not work. Normally she would could easily escape something like this using her power of darkness, but pushing against the tube and summoning her power was not working.
Aster walked in dressed in a white lab coat sipping coffee feeling great about the day to come. Finally, he had an oni and would soon begin testing on it. Noticing her struggling he laughed and said,” trying to escape I see. You are in x-stone bracelets. It’s a very rare metal that will keep your power from working. So, you may as well quit struggling and try to relax.”
“Sup Aster?” Nick said
“Oh, hey,” Aster said.
“Don’t you think about testing it without me dude,” Nick laughed.
“I just can’t wait any longer,” Aster said.
“Hello,” Zane smiled.
Are those humans , Savannah thought
“I want to see the oni,” Nick said while walking toward her.
“Get away from me human!” Savannah yelled feeling helpless.
“Wow, her horns, tail, and teeth are so cool, “Nick smiled.
“I know right, “Aster said.
“What are you going to do with her?” Zane asked.
“Don’t worry about what we’re doing. Just start cleaning,” Aster snipped.
Zane hung his head down concerned for Savannah’s safety. He watched as Aster prepared a needle in order to draw some of her blood knowing that was just the beginning of many hurtful procedures.
“Do we really need to do this to Savannah? “Zane asked.
“Yes,” Nick smiled.
“So, you’re just going to hurt this oni girl and test on her? She’s probably never seen a human before. Can’t you see she’s terrified?” Zane explained.
