Chapter One
This is the story of six of the most extraordinary young scooters ever known.
While these six sisters were extraordinarily beautiful and intelligent, they also possessed some truly incredible powers, the likes of which had never been seen before in the world of motor mechanics.
They were six in a million, and together, the sisters became known as the Xespa Angels.
All of these young scooters were adopted when they were babies, taken from various countries and put into the care of Rubio, their adoptive father. There was California, a sunshine yellow Xespa who was born in America; Monte Carla, a startling electric blue scooter from Monaco; Chyna, who was named after her country of origin and was a sparkling ice white in colour; Lady Mayfair, vivid scarlet in colour and named so because she was adopted from London, England; India, who was adopted from an orphanage in Mumbai and was a tranquil leaf-green; and finally Milan, who was born in Italy and was a deep, sparkling purple.
A wider mix you would never find, but for them, their differences brought them closer together. They shared everything, and you’d hardly ever find one scooter without the other five.

The Xespa sisters had a wonderful early childhood, and as they grew up, all six of the scooters began to discover something incredible: they had amazing special powers.
Once the powers were out in the open, their adoptive father Rubio taught them how to practice and improve their skills, encouraging them to really learn everything they could about their powers.
“But Father,” said California, who was known to talk the most of the six sisters, “how come we have these powers at all? None of the other scooters our age can do this!” With that, she morphed into a helicopter and began hovering a few inches above the ground.
“You were each born with these amazing skills,” Rubio told her, “and that is why I adopted the six of you. I saw that you all had something special in you, even when you were bambinos.” Rubio had told the girls that he was born in Italy, and they all loved it when he slipped Italian words into his conversations with them.

When the Xespa sisters turned eleven, their father sent them to a very grand boarding school – the best in the land for a group of young, knowledge-thirsty scooters. “Now, you must be careful to keep your special skills under control,” Rubio told them before they went.
“But why, Father?” Milan asked. This scooter had the impressive ability to create smoke and mist and to shoot fireballs out of her exhaust, all of which came in very handy when she was playing chase with her sisters and needed to hide or escape.
“Because the other scooters will be jealous,” Rubio explained. “The six of you are very special, and you’re lucky to have these skills. It wouldn’t do to make the other scooters feel bad that they don’t have such amazing skills, would it?” The sisters agreed, and although it was sometimes tough to keep their special skills hidden, they managed not to draw any attention to themselves while they were at school.
They loved school, learning all about the world and how things worked. They loved their teachers and their friends, but most of all they loved being together, the six of them like always.
They always made sure to follow one strict rule, however: they never told anyone else about their wonderful powers. It was hard, but they’d promised their father and they would never let him down.
