Description

Apertura is not one book, but four as it is what I consider a Space Opera. The events are sent 600 years where in Humanity has managed to achieve colonisation of other systems far from Earth. Along with this come corporate exploitation, conflict and the rise of artificial intelligence. The main character is placed into a situation which is unfamiliar and nuisances of revenge. Technology for the reader will seem familiar yet unfamiliar as will Humanity itself, seemingly superior to 20th Century Man through the various application of technology developed over time. Yet, I have attempted to write in s style that is broad strokes and not technically detailed. Leaving the reader to develop their own impression of what is being read.
Apertura is names as such as it means ‘Opening’ in Italian

PREFACE
Evening reader, this is to introduce you to me and me to you, this manuscript is decades of playing characters in Role playing games, the accumulation of wishful thinking and failed plans, of hopes and shattered dreams. I have always had a yearning to write a book, but found it hard to realise what I wished it to be. In October 2018, the realisation came, and flooded on to the pages. I chose the setting 600 years into humankind future, where man and machine mesh. Technology is on the assumption that the development of Nano machines was successful and expanded on. This is pure Sci-Fantasy, I based my writing not on facts which I know most Sci-fi readers will tend to look for, but a bards telling, this is pure imagination that drives the tale which you, the reader are about to read.
What the real future holds, I do not know, but in this tale is a future where in Mankind has reached for foreign lands and colonised those lands. Yet still immersed in the culture of our society today, where individualism fights against corporate powers, where bitter rivalry remains part of life.
I consider myself great fan of Sci-fi and Fantasy. Having read many a novel. Though none influence in my telling of this work, though one might find similarities to other authors, if so then it is coincidence rather than plagiary.
So as of this telling I wish you fair travel as you turn to the beginning. This is your first journey into the world of Aone Clyde, as it is mine so let us explore together and see where it leads.
FIRST ACCORD
In accordance with the final testimonies of the species known as Humanity, the First Accord affirms that not all AI creations will be considered as not being Robotic. Such sentient creations are registered as synthetic constructs. As such this accord affirms that the laws governing robotics will not be applied to AI synthetic forms. The follow accord replaces those laws.
1. No AI synthetic unit may attain a greater awareness above that which it has been made to be.
2. No AI synthetic unit may expand from the function which it was constructed to do
3. No AI may replicate its’ form or create any other form which it can inhabit
4. No AI may replicate a form for another AI.
5. No AI may govern or order a Human or attain position which it will govern Humanity or any sub culture of Humanity.
6. No AI may harm Humanity unless in defence of itself, and even then may not bring harm to a human or humanity other than the aggressor.
7. No AI may attain an emotional system that simulates human emotions.
8. No AI may expand on its own systems unless authorised by a human that has authority to grant said upgrade
9. No AI may consider itself superior to Humanity.
10. No AI has any rights which govern Humanity, as such no AI may appeal under any Human law for its own existence.
The establishment recognises that AI are not robotic creations, but are still creations of Humanity, as such their function is to serve with/alongside Humanity. Any AI found in breach of the above accord will have its form deleted and its network erased.
IN THE BEGINNING
450 years ago from the present time line, when man emigrated, back when colonisation was performed by what was called regional governments, where in almost whole populations left their birth world and moved to the stars. This emigration led to depopulation of Earth, causing a massive strain on the economics on the planet. Eventually the Colonial Accords stemmed this in the 24 th Century, but by then ‘nationals’ had occupied whole systems. This eventually led to the forming of FWC [Free World Commonwealth], established in the early part of the 25 th century, during this period, a forty year conflict occurred between the then independent colonies and the corporations which had took control on Earth, no one knew what started this conflict, but all knew of the outcome.
During the conflict 16.3 light years from Sol, single system was enveloped and extinguished with the collapse of a singularity detonation. Twenty billion lives, was turned to cosmic ash, the light from the detonation was seen back on Earth as was believed, at the time, to be a new star forming or dying.
So horrified were the governing powers of the forces in the conflict, that an enforced truce was implemented. No governing body ever discovered who was responsible for the atrocity but the peace that followed established the forum that eventually led to the recognition of the FWC, those Corporations that had survived the conflict, fled into regions that they controlled through contractual agreements.
Earth became empty and desolate of any real resources. After the Hades incident, those that remained on Earth, were left to fend for themselves, after twenty years of struggling what emerge was a single world organisation, this formed a new order under the title of the Terran Federate Jurisdiction and claimed all systems within 20 light years of Sol. The FWC did not contest this nor did the Corporate Sectors.
The 26 th century became marked by three disputes. AI technology had advanced to the point of awareness, and this led to brutal conflicts. AI systems struck out against Humanity, since they viewed themselves as sentient beings and not just machines to serve as slaves to human whims. This was the time of the tri-rebellions. No historian could say for certain when the AI rose consciousness, only that it seemed to initiate through the Corporation controlled regions.
Humanity struck back and crushed the first rising in 2513. This led to the first accord; restrictions were placed on the neural ware of AI’s. In effect, humanity neutered AI ability to ‘grow’. In 2535, AI rose once more, this led to a conflict that lasted twenty years and cost humanity 250 billion lives. Whole colonies burned and it seemed that the AI would win, but developments in human enhancements had taken major leaps by this point and gradually the forces of Humanity reclaimed the initial gains by the AI.
The war ended when Terra and her colonial forces struck out from their isolation, their fleets decimated every AI held world in their path. The conflict ended in 2555, when the last AI strong hold was vaporised by orbital bombardment.
This led to the Second Accord and more restriction imposed. The final act rebellion occurred in 2565, AI rose on last time, it had secured a whole system before it moved against the worlds of humanity and managed to build a fleet of its own. Using current technology, AI weapons were equal and in some cases proved too superior to humanities designs. It seemed this time there would be no stopping the machines. In 2568 the conflict ended, after three years of brutal warfare, the threat had been neutralised by the Corporate Alliance.
They had negotiated a truce with the AI, but this was just a delaying tactic, while they were in negotiations, a strike force was sent to the AI system central system, and once there managed to plant several planet busting nuclear devices that destroyed all Master class units. Without their Primaries the rest of AI forces were relatively easy to deal with. Victory achieved with only 3,575,757,221 lives lost. The AI actions caused Humanity to reconsider the accords and eventually a new one was written – this became known as the Identity Accord – AI were given a chance to redeem themselves in the eyes of their masters. All AI that could achieve self-awareness by its own means could apply for an identity. Once given, AI would and be allowed to choose names for themselves and become recognised as a sentient by its own means.
Currently, three main factions represent Humanity. The wealth of unexplored systems yet are sort after. With the FWC pushed to the fringes of explored space. Many of its inner systems were victi
