Previously…

“P lease, Khaution. I don’t know anything!” she tried to plead, but I knew her ass was lying.
I pulled my gun from my waist and aimed it at her, making her flinch and close her eyes.
“I know that you do, so cut the bullshit! Now you have two choices, tell me every fucking thing or die,” I spat, and she nodded her head yes.
“Now, I’m going to ask you some questions, and if I even think that you’re lying, I’m going to kill you. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” she cried with tears and snot running down her face.
“Now, how the fuck do you know Sybil? I know you’re the one who has been telling her about Autumn and probably gave her Autumn’s apartment keys, so don’t even bother to lie. Now, how do y’all know each other?”
She looked up at me and broke down crying.
“She’s my sister.”
My face dropped when she said that because I never would have guessed.
“You’re Big D’s daughter too?”
“No,” she sniveled.
“Well, how the fuck y’all sisters? Got the same momma or some shit?”
She looked at me again and then my gun before looking back at my face.
“Sybil isn’t Big D’s daughter.”
She looked like she wanted to stop but when I shook my gun at her, she continued.
“He doesn’t know. This thing has been planned since before we were born. Our dad had an affair with Big D’s wife and made her keep it a secret. He’s been wanting to take over from Big D, and is using my sister to do it. You just happened to get mixed up in all of this.”
“Well, who the fuck is y’all dad?”
Her face told me that she didn’t want to tell me and that I wasn’t going to like the answer. And as I watched her face, I was starting to think that maybe I wouldn’t!
“Brixton.”
Hearing that name made me choke.
“I fucked my damn sister and had a baby with her?”
This was some nasty ass shit, for real!
“No,” she shook her head. “Brixton isn’t your dad… Tank is.”
After silently staring at her for a few seconds, I started chuckling like she told me a fucking joke or some shit.
“Yo, you fucking with me, right? Tank is my dad. Tank? As in the nigga I killed?” I laughed, even though my ass felt like I was about to pass the fuck out. This had to be some kind of sick ass nightmare. It had to be!
“Tank is your dad, Khaution. Brixton had me falsify your and his documents to make it look like he’s your dad.”
“YOU’RE LYING!”
She jumped at the sound of my voice.
“I’ve seen my birth certificate with his name on it! His passport and all that shit. He’s got photos of me and my mama.”
“Things that he stole from Tank!” she cut me off. “He paid one of Tank’s maids to make copies. Your real information and his is in the safe in my apartment. Tank was the one who was in jail for twenty-five years and was looking for you, but I switched your information with another inmate who is dead. So, Tank thought you were dead. Brixton needed you to believe that you were his son so you could kill Tank.”
I shook my head at her words. I was expecting to find some shady shit on Sybil, something to help me get rid of her, but I found something much worse. Something that I wasn’t ready for!
“Your dad had a will that included you in it with your brothers. You are worth a lot of money. My dad sent Sybil your way to get Big D’s empire and for you to kill your dad to take over his. He’s supposed to kill you, and now that Tank is dead, he wants you to sign over your entitlement to the will to him. He wants you to sign some documents for some property, right?” she asked, and I nodded.
“It’s not for any property, it’s to give him power over your share of the will. He was hoping you would kill your two half-brothers too so everything would go to you. The only problem now is that he can’t kill you anymore like he originally planned.”
“Why?” I almost whispered.
“He wasn’t expecting the niggas to follow you the way they have. He knows if he kills you now that they will retaliate. So, instead, he’s going to set you up.
He told Sybil to text Nico and a few other men from your phone to meet you at a location, and when they go, they will be killed, making the rest of the crew think it was you. He’s set up for a few others to go to jail, and in the end, he’s hoping they will kill you so he won’t have to.”
After digesting everything she said, my head started to spin. So much of what she said made a lot of sense, like Sybil knowing exactly who I was the night she approached me in the club, but everything else couldn’t be true.
“Are you really trying to tell me that I killed my own pops?” I asked with my head down and my eyes trained on the ground as I tried to piece together what I was hearing.
“Yes, Khaution. You are Tank’s son.”
I jumped to my feet like my seat was on fire and rushed over to her. Forcing my gun into her mouth, I pulled on her hair, making her neck snap back.
“Cuz, let me check out her safe. I know where the bitch lives. At least find out if anything she’s saying is the truth,” Nico came up behind me and put a hand on my shoulder.
“What’s your safe combination?” I asked and pulled my gun out of her mouth so she could answer.
Nico went into her purse and pulled out her keys.
“I’mma be back. Don’t kill her, cuz. Let’s see if what she’s saying is the truth.”
I wanted to answer Nico, but I was too numb to utter a word or even nod my damn head.
He rushed out of the warehouse, and I heard his tires screech loudly as he burned rubber out of there.
I backed up from Zakeisha, dropped down in the chair I was sitting in before, and cradled my head.
I drifted in and out of different thoughts. An image of Tank’s lifeless body flashed in my mind, and I slapped my eyes shut.
“Khaution, I—”
“DON’T FUCKING SAY A WORD!” I roared so loud that I hurt my own damn ears.
I needed her to be quiet because if not, I was going to fuck around and shoot the bitch.
Pulling out a blunt from Nico’s stash that he had on the table, I lit it and allowed it to take my mind away.
The sound of Nico crashing into the warehouse almost thirty minutes later jarred me from my zombie like state. My finger ran up and down my gun as I stared into space.
“Cuz,” he said and tapped my shoulder.
I looked in his hand to see that he was holding a brown envelope.
My hands shook as I took it from him.
I dumped the contents out on my lap and began to look at the different documents.
Tears flowed down my face as I saw that everything she had told me was the truth.
Tank was my father.
It was his name on my birth certificate, and Brixton’s real passport was among the things too. I even found letters from my mama where she had written to Tank in jail, telling him all about me. Which was how Brixton knew all the things he did about me.
Picking up one of the letters Tank wrote to my mama, tears poured rapidly when I read what he wrote about how much he loved me and couldn’t wait for the day when he and I could finally be together!
My body shook, and I felt like I was having an out of body experience. I had never felt rage like this in all my life.
Without thinking, I picked up my gun, marched over to Zakeisha, and emptied it into her face and body. Once I saw her body slump over in the chair, I dropped to my knees and cried from my soul.
“I KILLED MY DAD!”
