Description

This is the third in Geoffrey's exciting series that has seen the Twins ripped from Vertazia and dropped onto Earth a thousand miles apart and without their telepathic connection. Fearful they will return and spread the "Human Violence Virus," their rulers have resorted to unacceptable levels of violence to prevent the Twins' friends from rescuing them.In Betrayed, readers join Qwelby as he slips into the fifth dimension to free Tullia from prison. Whilst Qwelby finds love in his second Awakening, the horror Tullia fears of hers is marked by bloody knife fights. Shooting his way out of danger, the Twins mentally reconnect, but before he can act Qwelby is kidnapped by the Professor. On Vertazia the two key rulers plot against each other, both using sixteen-year-old Xaala who dangerously twists their plans to her own ends - to destroy one Twin and win the hearts of the other. But which one for what end?A fraught journey aboard a flying Pirate Ship crewed by two of the Twins' Best Friends sees Tullia join Qwelby on the Professor's island. All should be well but Qwelby has fallen deeply in love with a human girl. Feeling bitterly betrayed, Tullia flees. As Qwelby launches himself through dimensions in pursuit, Xaala attacks him with a flaming sword, only to be hurled back by the strength of the human girl's love for him.To return home with the truths they have learnt on Earth and save their world, the Twins must be together. Will Tullia forgive her Twin or return to love amongst her adoptive tribe of Bushmen, leaving Qwelby with his human lover, and the Twins on Earth - forever?

The Author
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
My continuing thanks go to my supporting team. Cecily Wheeler and Josephine Brand who type the stories the Twins tell my whilst we’re on holiday, my editor Judith Henstra, Caroline Swain who proof reads and provides a detailed edit, and although this is ‘self-published’ I have a publisher - a great team at Matador. Gary Brown for his splendid redesign of the website. Stephen Ling and Pegggy Driscoll who read the books and give me invaluable reader advice and suggestions. Through it all there is my wife who gives me the space and the time it takes on holiday and then at home, and the continuing interest and support of friends and family.
WELCOME
In previous books I have written:
“Welcome to the story the Twins have told me. They do not consider this to be a work of fiction.”

While we were discussing a scene in this book I challenged them to explain how they know what other people were doing or thinking. Their answer was:
‘There is no Time in Timelessness.’

The Twins have gone on to live long lives and reached the ninth dimension where, as with Sigma-Space, they can turn the pages of the story of their lives. To be present both “then” and “now” means entanglement. When I see them, the superpositioning collapses (Hullo, Schrödinger’s Cat) and they are present as they were in that part of their lives they are telling me about.

SAN PRONUNCIATION
A reminder.

X
Imagine the way the English say ‘Gee up’ to a horse, a click at one side of the mouth, usually the noise is made twice. The X is pronounced with that sort of click made at both sides of the mouth at the same time.

Ts
A normal Ts movement but with the tongue pressed hard against the back of the top teeth and pulled sharply away. The sort of ‘tsk’ sound someone makes in a ‘tut tut’ expression.

!
An explosive sound made with the tip of the tongue pulled from the top of the palate. A sort of ‘tok’ sound - without the ‘k’.

A glottal stop - made by closing and reopening the back of the throat quickly.

-
A single ‘gee up’ click.

Half way between ! and Ts

CHAPTER 1
FREEDOM
The Kalahari
Qwelby jerked awake with his twin’s scream reverberating through his head.
Why? She was in his arms.
She wasn’t.
She had been.
In his mind as he wrapped his arms around her – in a prison cell!
Charging to her rescue, he hurtled out of his Form into the eighth dimension as he morphed into his Attribute of a powerful dragon and burst into her cell, rocking the building as he ripped all the doors to the cells from their frames. With a mighty roar he smashed through a solid metal door into an office where he saw his twin and tore out the door that was barring her escape.
‘No. Kaigii. NO!’ Tullia yelled.
Puzzled, Qwelby halted and smiled as he noted the confusion on the faces of the people unable to see him. Tullia knelt and tried to lift the door he’d just come through. Responding to her plea for help, he gripped the edge of the door and saw his arm covered in dragon scales as he raised it up. A tall slim young man wearing dark blue, who’d been lying to one side, crawled to the door and dragged from underneath it an old man also wearing dark blue.
Qwelby let the door crash back onto the floor, raising a cloud of dust and making the young man cough. He recognised the three marks on the old man’s clothing – a sergeant – of police. “The Authorities” he knew meant imprisonment, dissection and death as people on Earth believed all aliens were out to destroy them – and would destroy any alien they met. Here were two of them!
No. Kaigii. They good.
His twin’s thoughts stopped his rising panic and were followed by her request to share healing energies. Qwelby saw the six fingers of their one pair of hands manipulate the vivid interplay of colour
