Y ou’re bound to be surrounded by a cast of interesting characters if you work in an office. You get to know each other and are as dysfunctional as any family out there. When the office staff is made up of goblins, dragons, fairies, humans, and who knows what else, life becomes even more in teresting.
Paranormal, Incorporated takes a look at what happens when things go even slightly wrong when you have several different species of supernatural beings working alongside humans. Accompany humans, and non-humans, as they navigate the intricacies of interoffice romance, the challenges of being a human in a non-human world, or even discovering that they are not, in fact, as “ordinary” as they think they are.
Everyone knows what a bummer a service call at the end of a boring shift is, especially when you’ve got plans with the peeps. You’ll tag along with Gorb to see what the problem is and find out whether he ever gets that nice cold one in “A Service Call in a Dungeon.”
It seems that no matter how often IT tells people not to click unknown email links, they still do it. Find out just how dangerous that can be in the short stories “Ghosts in the Machine” and “A Better M essenger.”
Have you ever wondered if your co-workers were even human? I mean, really suspected that they might be something completely different? In “My Boss is a Yeti,” “Office Magic,” and “Something Fishy,” we discover that that fear might not be so fa r-fetched.
Co-workers are supposed to be your biggest support network at work, and sometimes they are. Sometimes, they are also a huge pain in the... Find out how important that support network is in “The Office Troll” and “Would You Still Love Me if I was a Cat Na med Worm.”
Anyone that has worked in a cubicle can tell you that sometimes the monotony can feel like Hell. What if that was your punishment for eternity? That’s precisely what happened to Gabriel Gibson in “Infernal Tuesdays.”
Paget and Tom have the distinct honor of working for a very demanding up-and-coming vampire in “The Human Society for the Preservation of Vampire Bloodlines.” One little misstep, and it’s their necks on the line, literally.
Explore the ever-excruciating fun that is working with multiple departments in “DRYAD” as you follow along as Mick goes on an interdepartmental quest to fulfill a request he received from anothe r company.
When the head of the seven deadly sins calls a meeting, you go. Even if you aren’t a deadly sin. The heat continually rises in “Helleburton” as the department heads try to figure out why they have been summoned.
I also threw in a little bonus story at the end. I won’t actually tell you what the story is about; just enjoy “An Unusual Vacation.” I mean, don’t we all need a bit of a vacation now and then?

Service Call in a Dungeon
By VT Bard
H is hand quivered. His hair stood on end. Sweat slowly accumulated on his brow as his eyes twitched with a strained concentration. ‘This was it,’ he thought, ‘the final piece. It’s now or never.’ Taking a final breath he went for it, carefully laying the last pencil necessary to complete the tower that stood on his desk. The pencil touched down on top of the one before it, and the deed was done. Slowly, he released the pencil and leaned back to admire his glorious creation, the newly dubbed Pencil Tower Version Twelve. It was the tallest collection of office supplies he had ever built on his desk. Perhaps it was even the tallest ever built in the entire office. Gorb couldn’t help but smile at the thought of it. “Working hard I see.” Gorb jumped in his chair at the voice, his knee knocking into the bottom of his desk.
“No, no, no!” He cried out in a panic as he tried to stabilize the tower, but it was too late. It collapsed beautifully in a spray of erasers, pencils, and paperclips. Gorb sat mouth agape at the destruction of his afterno on’s work.
“Ah shit, my bad man,” said the voice. Gorb just shook his head.
“I didn’t even get to take a picture.” He turned to look at the owner of the voice that had brought doom on his head. There stood Teeny, leaning against the wall of the cubicle. He was slightly shorter than Gorb, and his skin was a cobalt color that contrasted well against his white shirt. On his face was an expression of shame and humor. Clearly, he was trying very hard not to laugh. Gorb glared at his coworker. “That took me two hours to build. Two…hours. And in one second you tear it all down.”
Teeny rubbed the back of his head and smiled shyly. “Yeeeaahhh, sooorrryy. But hey, it looked really cool before it, you know, toppled over. And to be fair, I didn’t technically knock it over, that was your leg.”
Again Gorb simply stared, eyes squinting. “Oh yeah, now I feel way better!” He raised his arms in feigned ajulation and then dropped them quickly. “Well, there goes my career in architecture, guess I’ll have to started pedaling potions.” There was a long silence as the two goblins stared at each other, then suddenly they burst into laughter.
“Hey, if your buildings are that flimsy, I wouldn’t trust you with any kind of project.”
Gorb shook his head, still laughing as he got up from his chair. “Yeah? And your voice is so shrill and jarring, maybe you should be down in R&D helping them with their new alarm system!” He bent over and started collecting the mess that had spilled off his desk onto the floor.
Teeny chuckled as he entered the cubicle. “Here let me help you with that.” Together the two quickly picked up the office supplies and returned them to their respective c ontainers.
“So, tell me Teeny, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit? Your Autobrain acting up again?”
Teeny stood up and stretched his back, his pointy ears wiggling. “Nah, well I mean yes, but that’s fine, no more than usual. I just came over to ask if you’re coming with us tonight?”
Gorb turned to Teeny with a confused look on his face. “Tonight? What’s happening tonight?”
“Oh well some of us are meeting up at The Bronze Dragon after work to celebrate Emi’s birthday.”
Again Gorb was a little thrown off, but the name suddenly clicked in his mind. “Oooohh, Emi, the new Orc in accountin g, right?”
“Yeah, haha, it’s her first year here so we figured we would show her a good time. You know, show her that this place ain’t all numbers and ti mesheets.”
Gorb nodded. “Nice. Yeah, sounds fun, count me in.” He pulled his pocket watch out of his front pocket. It read 4:30 pm on the dot. “Thirty minutes to go, cool, it’s been a long boring day and I could use a cold one. Let me just close out my jobs and I’ll see if I can just leave with you r ight now.”
“Sounds good Gor, just let me kno-.” He was cut off before he could finish by the sound of heavy h oof steps.
Both Goblins looked up to see the imposing figure of a minotaur dressed in a sharp pantsuit. Her eyes switched between the both of them. “Hi, Teeny,” she bowed her head slightly, paying careful mind where her h orns went.
Teeny returned the head bow. “Siram, goo d to see.”
She smiled. “You too.” Then she turned. “Gorb, you’ve got a call on line one, check you r mirror.”
His jaw dropped. “A call? Right now?” Siram nodded, her mouth scrunched up into a sympathetic grimace. “Please tell me it’s a cons ultation.”
Siram shook her head. “Fraid not. serv ice call.”
Gorb sighed loudly. “You can’t be serious. It’s 4:30! I was about to clock out. Can’t you tell them to call back o n Monday?”
“Sorry Gorb, they’re a highly valued client, you have to deal wit h it now.”
He shook his head and cli
