Description

Unknown aliens tried abducting an entire human colony, but failed. Now it's a race to find the aliens and discover their weaknesses, before they can use what they learnt about humans to defeat them.
Sajan 3 has been attacked by unknown Aliens. All school age students were saved due to the heroic actions of some Senior High students. But the aftermath shows that this was a mass abduction of the living and the dead. One of the Senior High students, Joshua, agrees to join the Space Navy Academy, and become a Science Officer. With the hope of someday finding and rescuing his people.

Joshua was carrying a sapper. An old fashion piece of equipment. Basically a small wooden club, encased in leather, with a solid lead core. It was to knock the Freira out, in case he was not sleeping. Then he was to inject the knockout drug in him, to keep him under. Hopefully there will not be any allergic reaction. The team made it to the building undetected. When all the lights were turned off, it was Joshua’s time. The doors opened without him having to force them. He found the stairs, and made his way to the top floor. He opened the door to the Freira’s office. He was out like a light. Joshua had to turn on the light around his face mask, to see what he was doing. He left it at low intensity, so as not to wake up the Freira. The Sergeant said that a light was observed in the Freira’s office, and asked Joshua to confirm that it is him. Joshua just nodded his head so that they could see his light move. Joshua only injected half the knockout drug into the Freira’s neck. He was told at the Ministry that only half the dose was needed. They gave him double to be safe. But he and Navy did their own research at the Academy. It was possible to overdose on this drug. There was also the increased risk of side effects, the higher the dose. It was while he was slipping the sack over his head, that someone opened the door. The sack has a built in Faraday cage to block out all external signals. It also has an internal transmitter that once activated, cannot be shut off. This was to prevent the nanites from killing the Freira. Joshua turned his head at the sound of the door opening. It is the female human assistant. But when he saw her face, his heart stopped.
Sergeant Crazy Fox asked, “What’s going on up there? All external doors locked, and are now barricaded.” The sound of the Sergeant’s voice in his ear, prompted Joshua to act. He had no choice but to smash her in the side of the head with his sapper. She is going to be really angry at him for doing that.
“Everyone! I’ve been discovered. A silent alarm has been tripped. Navy! I need you to land on the landing pad on top of this building. It is the only place to land. So if they send a troop transport, they won’t be able to land on the roof. Joshua told the team to return to the transport. He would be leaving with Navy!” His whole team thought that he was going to ride in the coffin with the Freira, so did as he said. If they knew what he was really planning, they would have scaled the outside of the building to get him.

J oshua was on his way to the study hall, when he first heard the siren. The siren going off indicated that Sajan City’s force field has been activated.
Instead of continuing on to the study hall, Joshua ran for his locker, to get his survival suit. Because the other thing the siren indicated is that a sandstorm is coming, and with sandstorms came dust.
Because Sajan 3 is a desert world, Joshua knew that the city’s force field is unique. It is not the typical semi-sphere design used to protect against an alien bombardment. It is shaped like the inverted hull of a ship. Where the bow is moved to point directly into the wind. To deflect the wind, and the sand it is carrying, around Sajan City, during one of its frequent wind storms. Because the force field moves, it does not have a strong airtight seal against the ground. Allowing a small amount of wind and fine sand to blow into the city at the beginning of a storm. Until the wind itself deposits enough sand around the base of the force field to seal it.
Even then their always seems to be a fine cloud of dust that lingers in the air during a storm. This meant that everyone needs to wear a survival suit inside the city, because of the dust. As well as in the case that the force field collapses. It has happened a couple of times, during the almost hundred years that humans have lived on Sajan 3.
The only ones who don’t need to put on survival suits, are those who work in one of the special air tight government buildings. Like the ones that Joshua’s parents work in. Joshua’s father is currently the interim Commander of the Sajan System Defence Force. Which he claims is a very boring job, because all the alien colonies in neighbouring systems, pretty much ignore them.
In the past, every alien species that humans had encountered, once they discovered hyper-space, and hyper-drives, had pretty much not wanted anything to do with them. Even fighting what Joshua’s father called, border wars. Where they have tried to claim a planet that humans had just colonised. After the war, the aliens claimed that that the planet suited them better. Even though Earth had mentioned that they would have been willing to share the planet, if they would have asked. That is once the aliens stopped fighting, and learnt how to communicate with them.
It seems that most alien species believe in the, all or nothing, approach. But once the aliens realised that Earth was willing to fight for what they believed is theirs, and were good at it. The wars stopped.
Joshua’s mother is a doctor. With most of the hospital being in a sealed airtight building, because of the expensive, sensitive equipment they use. The exception being Reception, and Emergency. Where they have the most basic of equipment, just like in a Marine Corp Field Hospital. Only allowing patient transfers to the main hospital, when the force field is deactivated.
Once Joshua had his survival suit on, he hurried to get outside to see how severe the windstorm was. You can tell how bad the storm is, by looking at how high the wind was carrying the sand. A really bad storm would carry the sand right over top of the force field. A storm like that can last for days. Most storms only carry the sand from half a meter to three meters high, which means it can blow over in only a few hours. Joshua was hoping to go ride some sand dunes after school, with some friends. Which is why he was curious. He was hoping that they would still have time to go out after school.
Everyone in Senior High, like Joshua, and even down to elementary school, get around by what they call boogie boards. Those in junior high and senior high, have the powered boards. While those in elementary school still have to use foot power. The tires are nice and soft, and have a large surface area, which means that they travel easily over the sand. Joshua’s board is specially modified, like many that like riding the sand dunes. Having what is called a scrubber in the back. So they don’t leave a mark in the sand.
Some of Joshua’s friends have what are called skimmers. They are boards that don’t actually touch the sand, and skim over its surface anywhere from 5cm to 1meter, depending on what height the rider has set their skimmer at. With skimmer boards being a prestige thing, since it is only students with affluent parents, who can afford them. Joshua’s best friend Murray has one, and both his parents are senior city administrators. They bought it for him, to show everyone, that they make more than the average city worker.
The one thing that teachers don’t like about the survival suits, is that they all have built in multi-channel communications. So the teachers cannot tell if the students are paying attention to them and their lesson, or are they talking to their friends. Joshua and his friends have their own encrypted channel that they collectively purchased. So that they can keep in touch with each other when riding the dunes. If a sand face slides while you are riding it. It can bury you, and you need someone to come pull you out right away. If the sand reaches as high as your ribs, the pressure on your chest can actually cause you to stop breathing.
When Joshua stepped out of the school, he could not understand why the city’s force field was activated. There is no sign of a wind storm. Then he saw an energy blast impact the city’s force field, and he swore.
All his friends asked him, right away, if the storm was really that bad. Since they all knew he had gone outside to check it. He told them that there is no storm. It’s an Alpha 13. They have to interrupt their classes, and let their teachers know. They also have to pass the
