FOREWORD
A legend is a story handed down for generations and popularly believed to have historical basis. Legends have been around forever. Cavemen must have been the first ones to enjoy legends. That may be why art began. They would sit around fires they had invented and created and tell stories of what went on before their time and what was happening then, legends included.
That inspired them to return to their caves and draw and paint on the walls what they had heard. If you were to visit the caves, it is clear the pictures show events as much as singular items. From that time on, all people have enjoyed legends.
We all love legends because they entertain and challenge our imaginations. They enlarge the world beyond what is normal. Join me now in meeting a new legend, how it began, and how it continues.
 
CHAPTER ONE
Millions of years ago, when God created the world, He made many species of plants and animals. Some of the animals were very large, and others were very small. Most of the animals were in between. We all know about one group that was very large—the dinosaurs. They are not around anymore. What would we do with them if they were here? Would they fit in our zoos or in the national parks for us to admire as we rode around? Could anyone have a dinosaur as a pet? Whose backyard would be the right size for one? There are not many homes large enough for a dinosaur to be an indoor pet.
While we are all familiar with dinosaurs, there is another group of animals who were meant only for the water. The others were land animals, but they—well, some of them— occasionally went into the water, but they did not stay there very long. We know of many groups who lived, and some still do, in the water. There are small ones like tadpoles and small fish and large ones like whales and sharks. One group we never hear of are the Allimagoshans. You have not heard of them, have you? I do not think so.
Let me tell you about the Allimagoshans. They are one of the largest creatures God made. They are somewhat like whales, sharks, and crocodiles, but much larger. When God first created the world, the oceans, and the seas, water took up a large portion of our globe. There was room for such animals. They were happy in their homes on land or in the water.
The Allimagoshans were particularly joyful as they played in the water. Because they were so large, it did not take them long to cover far distances. They came together as families and had children whom they loved. Allimagoshan parents believed that their job in life was to teach their children to survive without them, to be able to swim, find food, find enjoyment, and create new families.
Young Allimagoshans remained with their families for a long time. As a matter of fact, they lived a very long time. As they got older, their parents told them it was time for them to begin their new lives. Each was to try a new body of water where they could find a happy life.
