Description

The world of the not-too distant future is plagued with ecological disaster, economic collapse and ruled by a tyrannical corporation called Omni. A 12-year-old Afghan boy named Orpheus, cast among millions of ecological and political victims within a mass detention centre in central Australia, can bend reality with his singing voice… Careful to evade Omni''s brutal oppression and obsessive control over emerging new dimensional possibilities known as the ''The Spheres'', Orpheus teaches his gifts there to a growing counter culture of ''Orphics''.With the help of a blind Australian indigenous elder named Yunuringa and the arrival of a comet prophesied to be an ancient artificial intelligence arc known as The Argus, Orpheus leads the Orphics at mass Corroborees in The Spheres… With collective voice, they heal the sick, empower the poor and mend the Earth''s ecology… evolving the hearts and minds of all who can hear… The Music of the Spheres.

Acknowledgement
I would like to acknowledge those without the support of whom I would not have been able to create this opus. My deep gratitude to members of the Yolngu, Arrernte and Wurundjeri indigenous peoples of Australia for profound insight into their current and ancient cultural practices, inspirational way of being and their resilience. I acknowledge them and all aboriginal Australians as traditional custodians of their lands and state here that Australia, where I evolved and reside, cannot meaningfully move forward without a treaty and reconciliation with its first peoples. Much love to my treasured mother, Lyn, in whose example I have witnessed courage, forgiveness, compassion, the art of sociability and how one dances some mean rock’n’roll. The foundation of my spiritedness, work ethic, sense of fairness and anarchic streak has been my dear aircraft mechanic and motorcycling dad, Robert. Thanks also to his wife, Trish, and all of her clan, including Rachel (RIP), Robyn and Tim and their kids, Lisa and Doug and the kids, and Kelly and Shane and their young ones. Lots of love to my niece Chelsea; and stoic, hulking nephew Luke, whose vocation of strength through bodybuilding, competition fighting and security are, I am proud to say, path to his ‘fighting of the good fight’. Both are the wondrous achievement of my beloved, musical sister Kerryn—the three of whom I am very proud of! A shoutout to electric Chris and his sons and daughter. All power to my artisanal cousin Glen and to his sister, Sharon, and her partner, Freddy, for their warmth, hospitality and many talents. In fond memory reside my aunts Beverly (RIP) and Jan (RIP), as do my grandparents Marge (RIP) and Ray (RIP) for their perspective, wisdom and care.
A salute to my long-time, calibre friend and brother-in-arms Bill Lawlor; his strength of character, strategic mind, insight, bohemian levels of coffee consumption, high-proof whiskey and cigars have, over the years, kept my spirit buoyed and morale charged. Bill’s experience as a sound designer, audio engineer and a music and audio production educator has proven invaluable in honing the musical and artistic pursuits of many, including my own. Bill’s fortitude has, in no small part, inspired the courage of my convictions (thanks man; viva la associates!). My loyal friend Chris (The Count of Monte Christo) Wilson, whose resourcefulness, intellect and lightness of being has, over many years, galvanised our mettle and our sense of humour. We have collaborated successfully over art, beer, live music, the dance floor and the golf course… On more lucid occasions, our conversations have been inspired by Chris’s Chinese medicine, martial arts, fine arts, media and business adventures… The Christo’s vision for holistic health and wellbeing are an inspiration (thanks brother!). Deepest gratitude and humble thanks to my friend, musical comrade and electric axeman Geoff ‘G-Man’ Austin. In the early days, Geoff’s generosity, musical talent and collaboration in composing, performing and recording the various incarnations of our instrumental and avant-rock ensembles profoundly influenced my artistic and personal evolution (thanks dude, you rock!). I am eternally grateful to Yolanda French for personal support and filmic advice during The Spheres’ development; to you, love and light! (The golden meanies might yet prevail…). Alan Z in New York for timely enthusiasm and advice. Rachel Okine at Studio Canal in France for encouragement and feedback. Carla and Anna for reading early versions of The Spheres and taking me dancing, a shoutout to their little inspirations, Matilda and D’artagnan. Nadine Maloney for a long and wonderful friendship, beginning on the dance floor, through our many epicurean and libation sessions and our enlightening discourse on all under the sun—but, in particular, on arts, engineering, design and aesthetics; recently and most wondrously, her little ray of sunshine Sioned has come into our lives! At a pivotal time in The Spheres’ development, I was greatly moved by the care and children’s educational insight of the lovely Elizabeth; respect also to her brother, musical artist, Dominic Talarico. Big love to my sistaz-in-arms, Alex, Nina, Ellie, Jade, Ileni, Carmen, Jen, Michelle, Lisa, Peta, Mim, Elliot, Allison, Vanessa, Tiffany, Sonia, Belinda, Kate, Anna and Ruth. Respect and love to Sal for her animal rights and political activism and her insight into horticulture, design and aesthetics. An Auslan shoutout here to Charlie. The high-performance Sarah for her friendship. PhD candidate Connor for his political insight, activism and the laughs. Respect to the Fitzroy seer’s Bridget, Ezra (RIP); Josh (RIP), activist and leading light; Star, musician; Kyoko; and all the Japanese art and punk drummer girls. Cath Campbell, for periodic, wine-soaked, fraternal ruminations. Mat and Joycelyn for their creativity and support. Those gentlemen of the arts, Less and Bruno. That ray of light, spiritualist and painter, Sean Christie. Those ladies of the arts, the irrespressable Silvia and Barb, chiormaster to the wonderful Cantobile Chamber Chior. Nancy and the crew at Caravan Studios. Mark from the rave days. Grahame Coote for writing advice. Sydney dance and theatre performer and producer Richard Allen for generosity of spirit and feedback. Much thanks to writer Geordie Kerr for feedback on The Spheres . Sara for film-industry advice. Thanks also to Gabby for previewing a Spheres treatment. As a music composer and performing musician, I have had the privilege to have collaborated with many brilliant artists; Monique Morter for the development of images to accompany The Spheres’ musical film script. The visual and conceptual artist Andrea Meadows. The extraordinary singer Jon Jackson. Dancer and visual artist Angie Postch. Experimental film, digital media and performance arts collaborators Tony Woods (RIP), Dirk de Bruyn, Vicky Riley (RIP), Steven Ball, Perry Alexander and Jim Bridges. The diva Belle. Inspirational activist and musician Madeline Hudson. Nicole and the activist crew at Bellfield. Early bandmates, Rob and Sean. Audio engineers, Grahame Hodge, Simon Cahill and Paul Fox. My radio mentor, Craig Bruce; and all my colleagues from the commercial and public radio days, as well as the club, bar and party DJ days. Mr Stillman in year six for seeing the music in me and giving me my first DJ gig. Bob Brown for the school of rock. Rob Oakley for the early music jams. Respect to all librarians, in particular the staff at The Victorian State Library and across Melbourne’s metropolitan library services. Blessings to The Colonel and Miss T for refuge
