BOLLOCKS! Ouch! Damn!
You say it was fate.
That led you to that date.
You call it kismet.
That made you take that bet.
I shook my head and chuckled when I heard the mix of swearing, and the beginning of the catchy tune to Written in the Stars , waft down the hall. That meant it was six o clock. Declan, my roommate and best friend, never missed an episode. And that was before he got a job in the hair-and-makeup department of the matchmaking show. The show was Declan s equivalent of church on Sunday. He also never failed to stub his toe on the corner of the couch in his haste to park his butt. You d think the boy would learn.
Maybe destiny s the word.
You would have preferred.
Hurry up, Sebastian, or you ll miss the start, he hollered, the beginning of impatience tinging his summons to the settee. If I knew him at all-and I did-he d be squirming in his seat, barely able to sit still. And why he was already getting his knickers in a knot was beyond me-they were still playing the opening song.
Doesn t matter which you use.

Oh yeah, Written in the Stars!
As the jingle drew to a close, I quickly finished dishing up our nachos and grabbed two beers from the fridge. Performing a balancing act worthy of the high-wire artists from Cirque du Soleil, I scurried down the hall to the lounge room. Declan spared me a glance and a smile before returning his gaze to the television where the host, Gary Walters, had just bounded out, looking like an advert for spray tanning.
Nice tie, I commented, indicating the host at the same time I placed the tray on the coffee table in front of us.
