ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
With my deepest appreciation to…
My wife and best friend, JoAnne.
My son and daughter James and Heidi.
To those of the body of Christ, who
have been an encouragement to us all.
But most of all, my sincere gratitude to our
Heavenly Father, who gave His Son,
to save the world.
“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world Through Him.”

INTRODUCTION
The LORD gave me this mes sage: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb”.
- Jeremiah 1:4-5 (NLT)
We live in a time where conservative values, Christian principles, and Biblical truths are challenged day by day, and the value of human life has been put to the vote. But one thing is sure, *God’s integrity, His faithfulness, His promises, and God’s ultimate plan for us will never change!
Those involved in the secular field of psychology acknowledge that all mankind possesses the need for a sense of purpose, security, significance, love, fulfillment, and stability. It is my goal to offer some encouragement in each of these areas - from a very personal and Biblical point of view, compatible with the difficult time we are living in. This book, “Known Before Birth,” can also be used as a teaching tool in the area of practical Christian living.
In my writing, it is my hope that you can relate to and be encouraged by the stories and ultimately will be stimulated and/or become even more motivated to align yourself with God’s plan for your life.
As this book includes my own life’s story, every chapter shows a different phase of my walk with God and is followed by several important Biblical principles I have learned along the way on how any person can become the complete person God desires them to be according to HIS plan from the beginning.
This book could be a great encouragement for anyone who is looking for answers, direction, and affirmation; it could also be used as a practical guide to help others in their spiritual growth.
“... so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” - - 1 Peter 4:11

1. GOD’S PLAN FROM THE BEGINNING
“…The word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you , before you were born I set you apart ; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” “Ah, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.” But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, `I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you ,” declares the LORD. Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “Now, I have put my words in your mouth . See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.” - Jeremiah 1: 4-10
Through writing this book, I am hoping to encourage you, challenge you, and motivate you to become all that you can and should be, as God placed you in the world we live in.
When God spoke to Jeremiah several thousand years ago, I believe He is communicating to us all today the same message .
He wants to reassure us that we are not placed on this earth to walk around lonely or aimlessly. It does not matter what our present circumstances are or how we got there… His plan is one of hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
The Bible says that God is the potter; we are the clay and the work of His hand (Isaiah 64:8).
God, being Master Potter, is affirming us by saying that He knew why and what He was doing long before He made us. He has placed us on this earth for His purpose. He wanted us! No matter the circumstances of our birth. We might have been born and raised in a good family setting, we could be the result of sin in a parent’s life, or we could be the victim of a dysfunctional home. Whatever it may be, our sovereign God knew us and wanted us long before you and I were born.
Other Biblical Refere nces
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” - - Psalms 139:1 3-16
Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last.” - John 1 5:16
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” - Romans 8:2 8-30
“For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.” - Ephesians 1 :2-6
“…He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began….” - 2 Timothy 1:9
“…you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood … You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” - 1 Peter2 :5-9
When God created us, He might have had a different plan for each of us; however, His ultimate goal is for each person to be the same. This is that our lives might bring glory to His name and that the world will know Him, as we allow Him to reveal Himself through us (John 17:4-20).
Because of this, we will never feel totally complete unless we are somehow involved in living out His purpose.
“For we are God’s workmanship… created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2 :10a.
Before we get into more details about this, I would like to acquaint you with a little bit of my own story, beginning with the family I came from to all that God has taken me through to get me to the present day. I want to give you an opportunity to relate to my experiences, so you will understand the many Biblical principles I learned throughout my life, hoping that you, too, will reach the victories and breakthroughs you deserve. Or perhaps you could use my story to encourage someone else.
2. MY STORY
I am still an imperfect Christian who is trying to be the person God wants me to be, even though my life has had and still is faced with many obstacles and challenges. But God has been very good to me. So far, He has sustained me, helped me, protected me, and empowered me to overcome them all.
I am the physical result of the fact that my mother was raped in the ’50s. Had I been conceived today, I would possibly have been aborted. That is the sad, unfortunate choice of many young mothers in the day we live in, but I grew up under very different circumstances.
I was born prematurely with a serious lung problem called Pleurisy.
Personally, I
