Aaron Perry Taylor-Johnson (born 13 June 1990) is an English actor. Taylor-Johnson, who began performing at age six, has appeared in films such as Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and The Illusionist before graduating to starring roles in the films Nowhere Boy, in which he played John Lennon, Kick-Ass in which he played David "Dave" Lizewski / Kick-Ass. Initially credited as Aaron Johnson, he began being billed as Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Anna Karenina (2012); he took the new legal name after marrying director Sam Taylor-Wood.

Early life [5] Johnson was born 13 June 1990 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, the son of a housewife mother and [3][6] [7] a civil engineer father. Johnson has cited actor Daniel Day-Lewis as one of his idols.
Career Johnson began acting at the age of 6, performing as the son of Macduff alongside Rufus SewellsMacbethin 1999, and in Arthur MillersAll My Sonsin 2000. His TV roles have included his turn as Niker in the BBC's 2004 adaptation of the novelFeather Boy, Aaron in Danny Brocklehurst's ITV1 serialTalk to Me, and Owen Stephens in [2] Nearly Famous. In 2003, Johnson appeared as a young Charlie Chaplin inShanghai Knights. In 2006, Johnson appeared inThe Illusionist, appearing in the flashback scenes in the beginning of the film as Edward Norton's

character as a teenager, Eduard Abramovicz. The scenes show the young Eduard as he first learns magic, and to do this, Johnson himself learned how to perform the ball trick displayed by his character. He also learned how to [8] perform the balancing of the egg on the stick, although that was effected mechanically. Johnson subsequently appeared as the heartthrob, Robbie, in the 2008 teen comedyAngus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, alongsideThe Illusionistco-star, Eleanor Tomlinson. Later, Johnson starred as Lorimer Black inArmadillo, and Prosper inThe Thief Lord.
Johnson appeared as John Lennon in the 2009 biopicNowhere Boy, directed by Sam Taylor-Wood. In 2010, Johnson appeared as Dave Lizewski, the lead character in Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman's filmKick-Ass, based on the [9][10] superhero comic book of the same name by Mark Millar, and has appeared as the central character, William, in [2] Hideo Nakata'sChatroom. In December 2010, Johnson joined the cast ofAlbert Nobbsas a replacement for Orlando Bloom, who dropped out [11][12] of the production due to his wife's pregnancy. Johnson starred in R.E.M.'s 2011 music video berlin which [13] was also directed by his then-fiancae. In July 2012, he starred in Oliver Stone'sSavagesalongside Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, and John Travolta. Personal life [15] Johnson began a relationship with hisNowhere Boydirector, Sam Taylor-Wood, on the 2009 set of the film. The [16] couple announced their engagement at the film's premiere in October 2009. They married on 21 June 2012 and [17] both took the name Taylor-Johnson. The couple have two daughters together born prior to their marriage: Wylda [18] [19][20] Rae (b. 2010) and Romy Hero (b. 2012). Through his marriage, Johnson is also a stepfather to [15] Taylor-Wood's older daughters, Angelica (b. 1997) and Jessie (b. 2006).
