Entertainment Weekly named him the "Most Dashing Duke" and praised his work onThe Tudorsfor displaying [6] "charm, depth and a killer bod". Cavill had been set to star as Superman in director McGs 2004 filmSuperman: Flyby. However, McG pulled out of [7] [8] the project and direction was taken over by director Bryan Singer, who recast Brandon Routh as the lead. Cavill was also the cause of a write-in effort from fans to see him cast as Cedric Diggory inHarry Potter and the Goblet of [9] Fire(2005). The role eventually went to Robert Pattinson. Stephenie Meyer, author of theTwilightseries, was [10] outspokenly in favor of Cavill playing the character of Edward Cullen in theTwilighthim herfilm, calling [11] [11] "perfect Edward". By the time production of the film began, however, Cavill was too old to play the character, [12] and again the role went to Robert Pattinson. In 2005, Cavill was a final contender for the role of James Bond in [13] Casino Royaleproducers and director Martin Campbell were torn between him and Daniel Craig; reportedly. The [7] [14] Campbell supported Cavill but the producers preferred an older Bond. Ultimately Craig landed the role. In their December 2005 issue, Empire magazine dubbed Cavill the "Unluckiest Man in Hollywood" for this series of [2] near-misses. Despite reports that he was a contender for Batman inBatman Begins, Cavill confirmed that he never [7] [13] auditioned for nor was offered the role. [15] In early 2008, Cavill became a model/spokesperson for Dunhill fragrances. The television ad featured a suited-up [16] Cavill walking through the Union Jack flag, before mounting a helicopter. A second television ad featured Cavill [17] driving a car through a deserted London at night, and meeting with a young woman. He starred in director Joel Schumacher's horror filmBlood Creek(2008) and in 2009 he had a minor role in Woody Allens comedy film Whatever Works. Cavill played the lead role of Theseus in Tarsem Singh's mythological, big-budget special effects filmImmortals, [18] released November 11, 2011. In 2012, Cavill will star alongside Bruce Willis inThe Cold Light of Day. On January 30, 2011, it was announced that Cavill had been cast in the role of Clark Kent/Superman in director Zack [19] [20] [21] Snyder'sMan of Steel. Snyder called Cavill "the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield." [22] [23] Entertainment media applauded Henry Cavill on his road to success.

The Count of Monte Cristois a 2002 adventure film directed by Kevin Reynolds. The film is the tenth adaptation of the book of the same name by Alexandre Dumas, pbre and stars Richard Harris, James Caviezel, Dagmara [2] Dominczyk, Guy Pearce, and Luis Guzman. It follows the general plot of the novel (the main storyline of imprisonment and revenge is preserved); but many aspects, including the relationships between major characters and the ending, have been changed, simplified, or removed; and action scenes have been added. The character of Sultan Ali Pasha's daughter Haydce, with whom Edmond forms a bond in the novel, and who ultimately falls in love with Edmond, is missing from this version. The movie met with modest box office success.
