Personal life Thomas was bornJonathan Taylor Weissin Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the son of Claudine (n e Gonsalves), a [1] personal manager and social worker, and Stephen Weiss, an industrial sales manager; the two divorced in 1989. [2] [3] [4] His uncle is playwright/actor Jeff Weiss. Thomas is of Portuguese and Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry. Jonathan has an older brother, Joel Thomas Weiss, who is an assistant basketball coach at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. His stage name is taken from his real first name (Jonathan), his middle name (Taylor), and his brother's middle name (Thomas). [5] [6] In 2000, he graduated with honors from Chaminade College Preparatory School in West Hills, California. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Harvard University, where he studied philosophy and history and spent his third year [7] [8] [9] abroad at St. Andrews University in Scotland. In 2010, he graduated from Columbia University, under his [10] legal name, Jonathan Weiss. His classmates recall, "He loved to talk. He'd say really intelligent things." Thomas currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and in September 2011, reunited with the rest of theHome Improvementcast for a photo shoot forEntertainment Weekly. At that time, Patricia Richardson tweeted an update [10] about Jonathan, stating, "Jonathan is acting, and he wants to direct!" [11] [12] He has been vegetarian for much of his life.
Career
Television In 1990, Thomas garnered the role of Kevin Brady, the son of Greg Brady, on the short-lived TV showThe Bradys, a spin-off of the 1970s TV showThe Brady Bunch. In 1991, at the age of 10, he won the role of Randall William "Randy" Taylor on the television showHome Improvement. He remained withHome Improvementwell into his teenage years, but left the show in 1998 in order to further his acting career. He had a guest role on the ABC sitcom8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughterin early 2004, and appeared in the WB'sSmallvillein 2002 and 2004. In 2005, he had a guest role in UPN's high school detective drama Veronica Mars, and was also featured onThe E! True Hollywood Story's show onHome Improvement.

The Lion Kingis a 1994 American animated musical-adventure film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 32nd feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The story takes place in a kingdom of anthropomorphic lions in Africa, and was influenced by the Bible tales of Joseph and Moses, and the William Shakespeare playHamlet. The film was produced during a period known as the Disney Renaissance.The Lion Kingwas directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, and has a screenplay credited to Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts and Linda Woolverton. The voice cast includes Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, James Earl Jones, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Moira Kelly, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Rowan Atkinson, Robert Guillaume, Madge Sinclair, Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin and Jim Cummings. It tells the story of Simba, a young lion who is to take his father Mufasa's place as king. However, after Simba's uncle Scar kills Mufasa, he must stop his uncle from conquering the Pride Lands and avenge his father.
