Description

People buy dogs for many reasons. Sometimes they want a companion or perhaps they want some security. Either way, dogs make great pets and often become thought of as family members.

If you have an unruly dog, then they are thought of as obnoxious but lovable family members. If anything, dogs can sometimes be a tad bit too enthusiastic and that is when obedience training comes in handy. Obedience training will help give your dog the discipline that they need to wreck less havoc in your household and will help eliminate a lot of the stress that stems from having an untrained dog.

Dog training and obedience classes can be costly but they are also not necessary. It is possible to train your dog yourself, at home to follow some basic commands, such as sit, come, down, stay, heel, leave it and go to your spot. If you would like to train your dog without spending extra money for fancy classes, this is the book for you.

Introduction
Dog owners love their dogs and dogs love their owners. Dogs often are so enthusiastic with showing their love that it can actually be frustrating, especially if you have a dog that jumps up or tries to lick faces.
Walking a dog that loves people can be challenging if every time your dog spies a person or another dog, they race over to say hello and play, dragging you behind on the leash.
Training your dog will allow you to enjoy your time with your dog with less frustration, both for you and your dog.
It will actually allow you to bond even more, by training your dog yourself and you and your dog will both enjoy the benefits of obedience training.
A dog that has been trained is far less likely to develop destructive behaviors later on and it is just generally safer in general, to have your dog trained.
Even the most docile dog can be aggressive if they feel afraid or threatened and training will help eliminate those very problems.
Training is a way to protect both you and your dog, especially around others; it is good manners to have a dog that is well behaved.
A trained dog will also be easier to work with, especially if you need to break them of any bad habits that they may have.
Training will also help a dog feel like they are more in control, dogs who have been abused or who have come from a shelter or a bad situation are often very afraid, and when you train them, they learn to trust you and respect you and then, when they are obeying their commands that you give them, they feel in control and less afraid.
Ignore the saying that you cannot teach an old dog new tricks because obedience training will work for a new dog being brought into the house, no matter if it is a young dog or a senior dog, or if you just want to train your dog that you have already owned for several years.
The methods in this book will work for all ages of dogs and it does not matter if it is a new dog that you have just gotten, or a dog that you have already owned.
Our training uses positive reinforcement, which is where you reward your dog for exhibiting the correct behavior.
That means giving a treat and praise. You need to stock up on small, bite-sized dog treats for our training. Never yell or hurt your dog.
That is animal abuse and will not be tolerated, if you find yourself yelling at or hurting your dog, please find a good home for the dog instead.
Dog Training – the Basics
If you have a dog that just does not listen to you, then dog training is exactly what you need.
