APPLE ALMOND PIE
8 servings Source:Corn Syrup Greats
1 Pie crust, single crust ¾cupsSugar ¼cupCorn starch 3 Eggs ½cupButter or margarine, melted
GARNISH:

½cupCorn syrup, light or dark ¼teaspoonAlmond extract
2cupsApples, peeled and chopped 1cupAlmonds, toasted and sliced
Apple, peeled & sliced thin T Almonds, toasted and sliced
Prepare pie crust for filled one-crust pie using 9-inch pan. Flute edge. Heat oven to 375℉. Reserve 2 T sugar. In medium bowl, combine remaining sugar and corn starch.
Add eggs, beating well to combine. Stir in butter, corn syrup and almond extract. Mix in apples and almonds. Pour into pie crust-lined pan. If desired, garnish with apple slices overlapped in a circle around edge of pie. Sprinkle center with almonds. Sprinkle reserved sugar over top.
Bake at 375℉ for 50 minutes or until center of pie is set.

6 servings.
Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes longer.

Bake at 350 degrees 40 minutes.

APPLE PIE
Place pecans and diced apples in bottom of pie shell. Mix together sugar, cinnamon, salt, corn syrup and eggs until smooth. Pour into shell over pecan mixture.

In 9 in. pie pan, combine brown sugar, marg. and corn syrup; spread evenly over bottom of pan. Arrange pecans over mixture in pan. Prepare pie crust according to package directions for two crust pie; place bottom crust over mixture in pan.
Heat oven to 425℉. In small bowl, combine sugar, 2 T. flour and cinnamon; mix well. Arrange half of apple slices in pie crust-lined pan; sprinkle with half of sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining apple slices and sugar mixture. Top with second crust; seal and flute. Cut slits in several places.
Bake at 425℉ for 8 min. or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.(Place pan on foil or cookie sheet during baking to catch ay spillage.) Loosen edge of pie; carefully invert onto serving place. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.
APRICOT-ALMOND CHOCOLATE TORTE

--Cake:---3cupsAll-purpose flour 2cupsSugar
¾cupsUnsweetened cocoa powder 2tablespoonsBaking soda ½teaspoonSalt

--Filling and frosting:---½cupMargarine or butter, cut up

6ouncesSemisweet chocolate, cut up 1tablespoonLight corn syrup 1cupApricot preserves 5ouncesAlmond paste (2/3 cup)
Grease and lightly flour two 9 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pans, set aside. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add water, coffee, oil, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed just until combined. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in a 350℉ oven for minutes or until done. Cool in pans on wire racks for minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on racks.
Prepare frosting (glaze) by combining the margarine or butter in a saucepan with the semisweet chocolate and corn syrup. Stir over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Let stand until glaze begins to thicken. Cut cake layers in half horizontally. Place 1 layer on a platter and spread with 1/3 of the apricot preserves. Repeat 2 more times. Top with the fourth cake layer. Place almond paste between 2 sheets of waxed paper; roll until thin (about a 9 inch diameter). Remove top sheet of paper. Place almond past atop cake, paper side up; remove paper. Trim almond paste even with cake edge. Spread top and sides of cake with chocolate glaze (if glaze becomes too firm, stir in a few drops of hot water). If desired, garnish with chocolate curls (not included in ingredients list). Note: Some apricot preserves have large chunks of apricots. Cut these chunks into smaller pieces before using in this recipe.
