Yes, it is true, this place is so fucked up that, George Raymond Richard Martin (GRRM) was so impacted by the hell hole, that is Bayonne, so bored with nothing to do but drugs and fighting, that nerd wrote about several kingdoms, a ridiculous amount of killing and a Dragon Queen. Perhaps you have heard ?
There is like Nothing to do in Bayonne, so naturally drugs, alcohol, fucking and fighting were really your only options. GRRM went to Marist High School near the Bayonne/Dirty Shitty Line. He very likely hid in the Bayonne Library (just like this author), to get away from the constant daily verbal abuse, insults and regular beat downs just walking down any street in Bayonne. It really was quite a vicious place to grow up, especially if you were a nerd, so you either learned to fight, run fast and/or hide some place safe.
Us nerds hung out in the safety of the Bayonne Library and ran home as fast as we could when the library closed. Ducking behind cars to avoid the various groups of thugs wandering around looking for fun to beat on the nerds and the gays. We all ran together in a collective and scattered like cockroaches under cars and behind bushes at the 1 st sign of trouble.
