Description

Knots are elusive but very important details of the sportsman's, and in particular, the angler's equipment. There are a bewildering variety to choose from but this comprehensive little book describes the essential types as simply as possible. First published in the early 1900s, the information in "Fisherman's Knots amp Wrinkles" remains as valid now as it was then. As well as the excellent section on knots, the chapter on net-making will prove of much interest to the hobbyist. The information on fish modelling, casting and painting is perfect for the amateur taxidermist and the other chapters on fly tying and dressing, and assorted wrinkles for anglers make for absorbing reading throughout.

R. B. MARSTON says in The Fishing Gazette - I had found his Pie so good I was sorry I had not a finger in it. . . . . I can very confidently recommend the book.
Mr. W. A. Hunter is to be congratulated on achieving a double-second. Last year his Knots and Wrinkles had to be reprinted, this year it is . . . . . Fisherman s Pie. Nowadays when we are constantly told that angling books do not sell . . . it is noteworthy to have fathered two books which have both taken the angler s fancy.

PREFACE
Knots are elusive but very important details of the Angler s equipment. There is a bewildering variety to choose from, although the differences are often slight, and fortunately the angler need only remember very few. I have endeavoured to select the essential types and to describe them as simply as possible .
The fly-dressing instructions are intended for beginners in that fascinating pursuit, and there is a very real sense of pleasure in catching fish with flies of one s own making. That can be said also about a landing net, and if the principle of net-making is mastered many other useful articles can be produced ; there is no hammock so comfortable as the one you make for yourself .
And if you make a plaster cast of a good fish there can be no doubt about its size afterwards !
W. A. HUNTER .
NOTE TO FOURTH EDITION
It is gratifying to find that a fourth edition of this little book is required .
When the third edition was called for I took the opportunity of adding a few more useful hints, especially the way to cure a tacky or sticky line, then made public for the first time
Except for a few minor corrections I have not found it necessary to make many alterations for this edition. The description of the blood knot has been amplified in the light of recent technical research .
The chapter on fish modelling has been simplified and improved in some details .
