Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Many of the illustrations throughout this book are photographic reproductions showing the various component and mechanical parts of sporting arms and their adjuncts. Those delineating game birds and animals have, I imagine, an interest somewhat unusual; as, for the most part, they are facsimiles of the gun engraver's actual touches; albeit, I admit, they make no pretensions to inform the naturalist.
