Dr Charu Jain has attempted through this handbook to remind the readers about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that nations have to aspire for and achieve before 2020. Sustainability strategy is to be carved out to manage and measure it to enable environmental foot‐print measurements. I am sure that the global industry system shall make this as a handy tool‐box for human resource development through this simplified guidance document for sustainability practices to corporate responsibility for ensuring sustainability on our planet. Foreword
Dr Charu Jain penned this book - “Simplifying Corporate Sustainability”.
The three chapters (1) Understanding Sustainability (2) Implementing Sustainability (3) Managing and Measuring Sustainability that encapsulates the essence of the global aspirations to prolong life without further damage to the surroundings of communities of flora and fauna. Perturbations due to immense human interventions in the name of discoveries and novelty of knowledge go into commerce for amassing wealth. Without heeding to the consequences of wanton exploitation of both natural resources and anthropogenic resources from those, one wonder how to sustain the balance of this life-boat that should be kept afloat in turbulent weather due to the series of climate change related impact.
The author focusses on the ‘people, planet and profit’ slogan to give the traction for elaborating dimension of sustainability. Implanting sustainability regulatory framework, the culture of labels and logos on products to establish conscious culture of sustainability in various products and processes shall get into consumerism. The driver of performance standard is the advocacy of compliance to standards that have international recognition and acclaim. The framework for defining and piloting the certified standards in the culture of corporate and industry has to arise from stakeholders: investors, employees, customers, government and non-government agencies and above all the sensitive human communities. The impact on flora and fauna from the rapid exploitation of science and knowledge from there to industrialization has been debated as the indices of rupture in equilibrium of natural principles. Recovery towards homeostasis is like the movement of a pendulum where harmony arises from the repeated disturbance of equilibrium.

Foreword
Sustainability has increasingly found mention in our daily lives, both personal and professional. While the concept has slowly but surely evolved from a catchphrase to a discretionary matter of choice in the last few years, it is now a matter of absolute necessity for organizations to charter their business strategy over the next couple of decades while remaining sensitive to the needs of the ecosystem around them. The ecosystem manifests itself externally in the form of the environment, the planet, and communities and internally in the form of human resources and business dynamics. Putting together a complex matrix to ensure that an organization can truly be sustainable is no easy task. For a matter that is so critical and well acknowledged by all, it is rather surprising that there are not too many authoritative writings on the subject. One of the reasons for this, besides the complex and nascent nature of the subject, could be the fact that not too many people have an all-encompassing view of the subject.

Preface
Our world is currently driven by increasing consumerism and consumption. We are long past the era of industrialization. Yet, the pillaging of our natural environment for economic growth has never been as high in history as it is today. Problems such as global warming and climate change have drawn attention to the growing need to shift towards sustainability. Sustainability promises a better tomorrow by helping us incorporate environmental and social concerns into our economic activities.
Corporations are slowly recognizing the need for adopting sustainability in their core functions. Increasing awareness among people and contributing positively towards the environment and society have helped corporations acknowledge the benefits of sustainability in their business.
I have always felt that sustainability is not merely a fundamental value is but also an important aspect of core business. Having worked in many industries for supply chain sustainability, I have personally noticed a shift in the attitude of industries from being negligent towards environmental and social issues towards adopting sustainability into core business functioning. However, there are many companies world
