#6

The current economic crisis most closely resembles the Long Depression of 1873. It began as a banking crisis brought on by insolvent mortgages and complex financial instruments, and it quickly spread to the entire economy.

#7

The First Reset brought about a fundamental shift in the organization of production itself. The American system of manufacture, which was a huge advance over the older system of craftsman working independently to make parts with a chisel and file, was used mainly for military production. But it was able to spread from firearms to clocks, pumps, locks, and typewriters.

#8

The lightbulb was not invented by Edison, but by the late 1870s, he had developed a durable design that would make lightbulbs practical and affordable. He then developed a complete infrastructure to generate and distribute electricity, without which the lightbulb would have been little more than a novelty gadget.

Great Resets are defined not just by innovation, but by massive movements of people. These shifts of people are essential to creating a new, more productive landscape. During the First Reset, major industries such as railroads, petroleum, and steel were consolidated, new industries and systems innovations were created, and the way was paved for a period of remarkable industrial growth.

#13

The First Reset brought people from all over the world to America. Between 1881 and 1930, 27. 6 million immigrants came to America. They helped swell the populations of the country’s major cities, and they brought with them cultures and lifestyles that transformed the character of those regions.

#14

The First Reset led to the expansion of cities, as people began to live and work further away from the center. The lifestyle of the average worker began to evolve, as they began to live and work in separate worlds outside of their homes.
